Since the board upgrade the language filter has seemed much more agressive.
I'm guessing names like:
Bruce ****burn
Stephen Lea****
will be partially filtered out.
Any way of adjusting the filters to ensure there is non-alphabetic characters on both sides of the word before it is filtered?

It's on a word by word basis rather than a whole filter basis, so we need to adjust it as we go along.
EDIT: Bruce Cockburn

Is it a regular expression that you tweak?

Not that complex, the forum software keeps a list of banned words that we can add to or remove from. There's two ways to enter the word, one way will *** out the word regardless of context, the other way will only star out the word if it appears on its own. I changed that one so that Cockburn is fine but **** isn't.

Assassin
Woody Wood******
...I was just curious
Why is the four letter version of "pee" (p***) censored? Seems kind of ridiculous to me. Censoring it actually makes it look like you're swearing when you're not.
****ed = drunk
****ed off = angry
etc.
Pretty PG, IMO.
