I don't because I tend to be incredibly biased and it affects my betting, but I have no moral aversion to it.

I'll never bet against the Flames, but that's just me. Betting against your team doesn't make you a bad fan though.
I'm pretty biased though and even when predicting Flames scores I have a very hard time giving the other team even a goal. Just feels wrong to me.

I take players from other teams in hockey pools, so I suppose I do.

Wasting the money you earned on the outcome from a bunch of people you've never met and never will hasn't ever struck me as a good idea.
So to answer no, I don't bet against my team.

I never bet in a game that my favorite team is playing in. Just too much information that can clot the brain.

I bet against ResAlien's teams so he can maintain his clear conscience.

There is a difference between cheering for a team to win and being smart betting.
I rarely bet on or against my team unless I figure that its a good spread or proline number.
There is still a lot of emotion that can ruin a pick and a ticket if your not careful. I tend to stick to the rule of never bet on your team

usally skip the bet on the home team, sometimes I will throw it down if it seems like a sure thing or if i'm going to the game and want a bigger celebration

Pretty much my take on it. I just don't like betting for or against my teams, the bias affects your judgement too much.

If I am not sure about my team if they will win or not, I just skip and not bet on that game at all. Usually I bet for my team no matter what but I would rather just not bet on that game period even if I am confident.

In fantasy pools where it is players, I have no problem taking the best guy. Money-wise, when betting I take my team only to win, never to lose, if I think they may lose, I just don't bet on them.

I've done it in the past but not anymore, it just makes it not very fun to watch the game
if I don't like any of my teams to win, quite often obviously that happens, I just don't bet that game
But I have no problem with someone doing it, doesn't make someone less of a fan, business and pleasure are completely different

I stopped betting on NHL all together, except hockey pools but won't carry any Flames players, because was the one sport I found myself rarely winning and I believe because of my bias.
Only NHL bet I do make is my yearly $100 on the Canucks winning on the cup so if it were to happen I can take that $1700-2200 and disappear to Mexico for two weeks.

I used to bet for and against the Chiefs. However I found that there was too much emotion involved that seriously clouded my judgment. So I avoid betting on them altogether.

What I meant to say is, if the odds are right I would bet against my team.
