Heading to Seattle in Sept, need suggestions
Been there once quite a few years back and looking for suggestions primarily for a hotel that is central to all the touristy crap, ie: Space Needle, Pike Place etc.
Looking for at least a three star possibly a four that people have found have pretty good rates.
Also any other suggestions on stuff to check out for people that have been would be appreciated. (Will be checking out the Mariners as well)

On the first week of Septemeber, they have Bumbershoot. I went one year, and it was awesome. Tonnes of great bands, artists and comedians. The year I went, I saw Ween and Cat Power.

Here is the whole lineup this year:
http://bumbershoot.org/lineup/
Bob Dylan, Mary J. Blige, Hole, Decembrist, Drake and Weezer being the main headliners. Patton Oswalt will be doing comedy.

We stayed at the Doubletree Arctic Club last summer because we got a deal on Expedia. It was pretty good and fairly central. You'll probably have to take the train (they have a new, underground train) that can take you to the monorail and on to the Space Needle as it would be a major hike.
The monorail breaks a lot, so you may end up walking some of the way anyway. We did.
The hotel itself was kind of cool as it had a 1920's, classy feel. Small room, but we didn't spend much time there anyway. It is close to the stadiums and the Pioneer Square area. Pike Place was a short walk away.
If you're driving, parking was pricey at about $20/day (IIRC), and they basically take your car around the block to a sketchy parkade. Our car came out fine, however. I guess that you could always just park it there yourself if you wanted. When you check in you get a fresh, warm chocolate chip cookie. I'd stay there again - it was decent and adequate, but nothing too crazy. And it was cheap.
While we were there we took the underground tour, which takes you below street level into some tunnels that were the result of the city's street level being raised a while back. If you like old stuff and don't mind being underground a little, it could be fun.

My wife and I stayed at the apartment buildings right in between the Warwick and Andra - both looked extremely trendy and probably overpriced. We found our apartment on VRBO and really enjoyed our stay for $80 a night. The location of those two hotels is great though - we walked to the Sounders and Mariners games both nights and it was a great atmosphere. Everythig is down there though.
We had a car rental too - driving to the outlet mall north of Everett was worth the trip.

I typically do all of my booking using those sites - just be sure to read your cancellation rules. Some give you a better rate but it is not refundable, whereas others have the usual 24 or 48 hours prior to arrival cancellation window.
I have never had an issue with an online booking, both in North America or elsewhere. They always have my name at the desk when I arrive, etc. I typically use Expedia.ca and Travelocity.ca as they are in Canadian dollars (or Venere.com for Europe sometimes).
A friend of mine uses priceline.com, which can get you some pretty good deals at the expense of actually choosing which hotel you like. Not my cup of tea - I like to know where I'm staying before I pay for it.

I just downloaded their app, but really am leery as to how legit it is.
I was messing around with it and bid $10 for a 4 star hotel and somehow it gave me a result or indication like it was possible, which really didnt instill any confidence in me.

I highly recommend doing Hotwire for getting a hotel. I booked a four star hotel that should have cost around $170.00 for $100.00. Believe it was the Renaissance downtown. Also for food, check out these two places. The Mexican place was really small, but the best Mole Chicken I've ever had. Bring some back please.

We stayed at the Mediterranean Inn when we went. Great hotel, good price, and good views. It is near the Space Needle/Key Arena, Experience Music Project. Quick bus ride on the bus (same street as the hotel for the bus route) will take you to Pike's place. There's a Star Bucks at the hotel too, but I recommend Pike's Place for coffee. And, if you're renting a car, they have parking which I think was pretty reasonable as well. Some good restaurant in the area too.
Edit: Forgot to add that you can access the roof of the hotel anytime and there are some amazing views up there. We sat up there at night time after coming home and just enjoyed watching the city. They have chairs and loungers up there to sit in. As well, there is a Safeway right there, in case you want to grab some food/snacks/etc.

I stayed at the Sheraton. About a 5 minute walk from the market, close to everything (transit, shopping, etc.). Would recommend it to anyone.

Mrs. HockeyPuck and I stayed at the Silver Cloud Hotel Stadium for a $100. I used priceline and I got a great deal - the hotel had a roof top pool and was right across the street from Safeco Field and real close to the pier. I would suggest you try priceline for a good deal.

Thanks guys, i will go the priceline/hotwire route, but you guys suggest certain hotels which of course cant be chosen while using those sites until of course you book and then you find out which one you got.
I should be in good shape though on the results im getting for $110 a night on a four star hotel in the downtown/pike place areas right?

We've stayed here.
Excellent hotel, close to all the touristy stuff, downtown etc. and very reasonably priced. VERY nice continental breakfast. They have a complimentary shuttle service anywhere downtown, as well as pick you back up again. FREE anytime! We had our own vehicle, but took advntage of this as well. We definitely will stay there again.
As we were advised by someone on here a few years ago, you MUST try The Crab Pot. Have a crab combo...it's almost worth the trip there alone.
