Default Best place to buy a bed

I need to buy a new bed....so as always I turn to CP for guidance.

Looking for somewhere in Calgary, don't want to cheap out but I'd like a good deal...and I don't want to have to deal with "Gill-type" sales guys.

Advice?

I did a search for several months before settling on a bed from the Brick. There is a place called Mattress Mattress that had some good deals that I liked. Sleep Country looked to have great service and had a nice store, but their prices seemed to be the highest. We almost bought at the Bay at one point too.

One thing to be sure, don't even consider paying regular price. You should be getting a discount in the neighborhood of 50% off of any bed you buy. There are always sales, and I can't imagine anyone pays full price - except fools.

Right now Costco has Sealy pillow top mattress and boxsprings on for $599 for a queen and $799 for a King. We bought a queen for our spare room and our guests say it is really comfortable.

Define "bed". Mattress/Boxspring or the bed "aka, the thing that holds the mattress/boxspring"?

The whole thing...bed/boxspring and the frame.
King-size, pretty firm.

Crossroads I'll second as having some decent stuff at decent prices, but that's just for the bed and frame and stuff, no idea if they have good mattresses or not.

Check the paper on Fridays as well, there's usually a furniture store or two around town that have sales on.

I bought a bed from Sleep Country a few months ago and got great service.

They have a 60 day comfort guarentee that allows you to try the bed you bought and if you think it's too soft or firm you can exchange it for another one. I used that gaurentee as the first bed i bought was too soft.

Sleep Country was really good to me. I bought last years top selling model and got a really good deal on it from the guy.

Free Delivery, and they take the old matress/boxspring/everything for free. They were extremely fast when it came to delivery and gave me a really nice window of when they were coming. None of this "We will be there anytime between 8AM-9PM".

I bought a new mattress/boxspring a couple years ago. After going to about 4 different mattress places (like Sleep Country), I found the same mattress at some weird hole-in-the-wall place in Foothills Industrial for ~$500 less. IIRC, the name of the place was Choice Distributors. Beds (in my world) are purchased at IKEA.

Sleep country mix and match was alright for us. Probably still overpriced a little bit.

Ask around your office. I bet Peter could hook you up with an Intellibed.

ours was the mix and match at Sleep Country as well.

Delivery, set up, etc, was a breeze. They were quick, clean and professional.

I don't know about where, but get a Tempurpedic. The last bed I bought was one, and I'd hate to sleep on anything else. Totally worth the money, even if you get a knockoff. Best beds ever.

Labbe Bedding. They are a local family owned and run business. They treated us great. You can custom pick your mattress and colour. I would very highly recommend them to anyone.

So what exactly have you been doing that you need a new bed? Did the old one get worn out from taking it on road trips to Chicken on the Way?

Bump. Looking at getting a Tempurpedic but I am wondering how much Sleep Country is willing to move on these. Anyone have experience with these? The reviews seem amazing and I don't mind shelling out cash for something that will be used 30 percent of my day.
