This is solely a rumour, take it at face value, my friend's fiance is friends with a few players, goes out for beers, parties, whatever with them, and apparently there are some off ice issues being addressed by a counsellor coming into the room.
Please keep in mind I've been here on CP for years and TRY to contribute constructively, so I wouldn't post this unless I trusted the person who told me about it. I also dont want to say what the issues are that I heard unless a mod wants to ask me about it... but I want to adhere to the guidelines.
All I know is that if a professional counsellor of some kind has been called in, the rifts in the room have gotta be pretty serious at this point. Personally, I have a really bad feeling about Dion Phaneuf right now. He's not necessarily the one the counsellor came in to speak to (i didnt get names)... but I really get a bad feeling.
Sorry if I should have kept this to the Orange Julius line at Southcentre, but I thought this was interesting information and that some of you would like to know this tiny sliver. Flame away.

You kind of get the sense that there must be something bad behind the scenes, because why else would there be talk of trading Phaneuf? It doesn' make sense strictly from an on-ice perspective...
Thanks for the info. Don't worry, if people can post 1000 threads about how we should blow up the core, you should be fine.
If true, I think this is a great move. There is some serious off ice stuff that's going on. It's the only reasonable explanation. Sure we NEED another top 6 forward, but this team with Iginla, Jokinen, Bouwmeester, Phaneuf, Reggie and Kipper should not lose 8 in a row. IMO, it's not a matter of talent but something else. Whatever it is, I hope they work it out, and soon.
In all honesty though, if this is the case and counselling has been brought in that would signal to me that the relationship between some of the players/coaches/etc has reached a breaking point.
I really hope this isn't the case, but if it is I would not be surprised if D. Suttz (thanks Cruikshank) makes a move of some type before the deadline, or the more likely scenario of him making a move in the off season.
if this is true, it should have been done LONG ago. I ordinarily look at counsellors and psychologists with a large degree of contempt, but it's either calling in them or calling in an exorcist.
dammit Northendzone, you beat me to it!

I had actually heard about an incident like this last year. Probably not true but that certainly would split a dressing room. It's funny, on OTR they sometimes ask if there is players that sleep with other players wives and I can always remember Roenick saying "Oh, yeaah."
"I sense that you can't seem to win. Also, stop looking at my boobies."

I need clarification. A counsellor is counselling a single player for some off ice issues or the counsellor is counselling the team in hopes of mending rifts between a group of players? Maybe it's just a substance abuse issue with a player? If so not really surprising with all the rumors. Poor Darryl Sutter. His beloved core is literally crumbling in front of himself and his brother. I know there are a lot of fans disgruntled with Sutter but I doubt anyone could have forseen that things would get this bad.
