Default What are your monthly cellphone charges?

Thought this might be interesting/helpful to people.

i Have an iPhone 3G, and my monthly bill is as follows

Carrier: Rogers
History with company: 16 months
Megavalue plan 35/MY5 local - $35.00 less $10.00 credit =$25.00
300 bonus local airtime - $0.00
iPhone Value pack (unlimited TXT/MMS/Visual voicemail) - $20 less $20 credit =$0
6pm early unlimited calling - $7 less $7 credit =$0
Data plan (6 GB) - $30
1000 nationwide calling minutes - $5
911 - $0.50
SAF - $6.95
-------------------
Total: 67.45 + 5% GST = $70.82

Still higher than I would like it to be, but for what I'm getting it's not too bad. Rogers always seems more than willing to offer monthly credits if you call in and speak with them about charges you don't think are correct.

Anyone else care to share?

How did you get the iPhone value pack for free? We have literally the same plan, otherwise.

The only discount I have got is the BB plan that is 40$ for 20$. (the data portion, with voicemail+unlimited text etc)

then i have a regular voice plan, to about 70-80$ a month depending if i am in halifax or calgary (HST vs only gst)

Part of the reason I'm doing this is to make people see they shouldn't be paying $90+ a month. These companies will nickel and dime all day long. If you show them you're unhappy, they'll concede. You're right though, iPhone plans are at least $60 in my experience.

I get raped in the ass by Telus. I think it's around 60 bucks a month or so for 300 minutes, unlimited evenings and weekends starting at 5, unlimited texting, caller id, call waiting and voicemail.

I would have to agree with you, no way someone using a regular cell phone should be paying that much per month. My g/f was as well until I got my hands on her plan and got it re-worked down to around half of that.

You have any tips on how I should go about doing that? I'm definitely not a fan of these bills haha.

Rogers RazrRed - 27.86/month.

I dont use it except to call forward to my work Bb and the occasional text message because girls these days think phones are for texting and not for calling.

Honestly make up a bogus plan from Rogers (if you're on Telus) and call Telus to let them know what Rogers is offering you. You'll have to wait on hold for costumer loyalty (retentions), but they'll be willing to match whatever Rogers has on the (fake) table.

Another way is to call them and say you need all the features you have, but don't want to pay more than X amount, they'll usually just credit your account for close to the difference.

It's important to realize that the person on the other line wants to get you off the phone as quickly as possible, and if crediting your account for $20/month will do that, done and done.

$10.70/mo - Pay as you go with Telus

Send the odd text and wait until I get home/to work to call people, nothing is so important to be calling while driving or blathering on in public.

A bit harsh no?

I have friends that will not talk on the phone while driving at all. It is dangerous... I have almost gotten hit by people talking on the phone turning into my lane. People have their reasons and I respect that. Unless it's something like I never talk on the phone ever because I can get a brain tumor.

I'm with Kryzsky. I hate having a cell phone. If I didn't have it for work, I wouldn't have one at all. If really need to get a hold of someone that isn't work related, I wait until I get home. I've never even sent a text in my life either.

Anyway, my bill is usually around 130 bucks.
