Vancouver Olympic torch looks like a giant doobie?
I never really paid much attention to what the torch looked like until the other day someone on the radio was commenting that it looked like a huge marijuana joint. ... LOL
After hearing that I just had to google a pic of it... and sure enough, it does!
How fitting for the Vancouver Games, home of BC Bud.

I've never heard anyone call it a run before. Over here on the Wet Coast we call it canoeing.
Also that is one ugly joint I hope that designer never rolls for me sessions.

I've heard it called both. I've also heard it called a burner.

Considering how much face time VANOC is giving to BC aboriginals, they should have made it look like a Mohawk.
I was watched the Lighting of the torch today from Victoria. At one point, an aboriginal leader was at the mic and made a comment that was directed at the non-aboriginals in the crowd and watching on tv, (paraphrasing) "We welcome you now to our land, as we have welcomed you before so many times". It was followed by what may have been the most awkward applause ever. Sorry chief, I don't really buy into the whole 'its your land' thing anymore. I'm all for embracing multiculturalism, but the native presence in these games just doesn't reflect West Coast or Canadian culture.
And that's all I have to say about that.

It doesn't look like a joint at all... It one great peice of work in my opinion. Vancouver has done a good job on there medals and torch this year making them both very unique.

My dad said thesame thing 2 weeks ago! He then whipped out a huge home-grown-fatty for comparison to prove it.
PS: I'm from Nanaimo and we called them runs...but then again, we also used a derogatory term to describe getting the end wet when you take a hit (wouldn't let me type it.)

It's funny to hear that, because growing up in Europe the natives were idolized for their connection with nature. In fact, I remember a childrens book called "The earth doesn't belong to us, we belong to the Earth" (note also this is the same principle discussed in Pocahontas (sp?)). It seems ironic that it is the so-called "white-mans greed" that is causing this leader (chief) to sway from his elders beliefs, whose culture and beliefs are supposed to be "protected" and upheld with these land treaties.

Yeah, the thousands of people who have commented that it looks like a pregnant doobie must be wrong. Or you just never seen one.

Well im not a 14 year old stoner. But unless its a joint that got dropped in water and dried all malformed, then I could see it... but since its a curvy unique shape... It dosn't look at all like a joint.

It's long, white, and burning at one end. It looks like a joint.

Back in my pot smoking days the one thing I hated the most was when my one buddy would do the rolling. Mr. Freaking Anal. It had to be perfect.
Just roll the goddamn thing already!
And Puxlut, I'm pretty sure we all know what term you're thinking of.

You don't have to be a 14 year old stoner to see it looks like a pregnant joint (uneven and lumpy roll, often with a curve to it). If you haven't smoked enough to have seen a pregnant joint before then you'll never conceed that it looks like one. Just move on as many others disagree with you.
