Default Toshiba 50hm66 TV

Well, my son has done what I've only ever threatened to. In a temper tantrum today, he smashed the screen multiple times with the remote, scratching the sh*t out of it. Anyone know where I could purchase the screen alone? It's a Toshiba 50hm66 TV.

Nice, I own that tv. As for your problem, sorry. I only know where to get replacement bulbs (it is DLP right?).

Try Ebay, I found a new screen for a laptop on there (40$, cheaper than a new laptop), and I bought a broken camcorder for 10 bucks to supply the lcd display which was broken on mine.

Dont bother, tried once with a Samsung, it was cheaper to buy a new TV than pay for labour/shipping/replacement.

Wow that sucks, sorry to hear that. I'd try Ebay first.

I have that same set...good set but the initial bulb blew up with barely any hours on it. The replacement seems to be lasting better.

OT but my HM66 has not been displaying HD correctly for the last month or so with Shaw Direct. Looks like its zoomed in a bit. Tried changing all the display settings on the set and the reciever, and finally reset the tv...all to no avail. Anyone have thoughts on this?

that's the issue I have right now, with the same TV. When I was bringing my tv home after replacing the bulb the rag wrapped around the ratchet part of my ratchet strap slipped off, and the ratchet was banging on the screen, eventually smashing through both screens (yes, there are two, one protective screen, one projection screen). The cost of the screens alone is around $380-400, about 220 for the protective, around 180 for the projection. The labour would be minimal, as it's about a 10 minute fix from what I've been told. I have been dealing with Japan Video out of Edmonton, and they can get the screens easily enough, but if you go to the Toshiba website there must be some Toshiba repair dealers listed in Calgary, any one of which should be able to get the screens and replace them if you can't do it yourself.
