I read he was still playing weekly live gigs in NYC until fairly recently -- amazing for someone his age.

When I get home, I'll break out the below guitar and play a few tunes in memory of a true musical innovator.

R.I.P. Les Paul. And on the day i write my final exam for my audio engineering course...weird. From wiki for those who don't know: "His many recording innovations include overdubbing, delay effects such as "sound on sound" and tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording."

Gibson already has a tribute page up on their website -- you have to think they've had this written for awhile and were ready to post it upon hearing that Les Paul had died.

My first time in NY i went to see his show, but unfortunately he cancelled that night. I always meant to go back and see him, but never did. I had about 7 years to do so, so shame on me.

Sorry, I only have a American Strat.

Les Pauls were always seemingly too big for me...maybe I can try a short scale?

Oh man, a 24.5" scale Les Paul Junior is $1159!!!

Les Paul's look great and I love that both pick-ups have different volume knobs. I just wish they had a whammy bar (I don't think they do anyway).

A real innovator, and legend.
