The Official 09/10 Liverpool F.C. Thread
Starting this one up now as they play their first friendly on the 15th of July against St. Gallen.
Link to the schedule:

Not much of a 'new look' squad apart from the new All-Black Away Kit, I'll reserve judgement on those until I see them, but who knows, it might grow on me, but its not red.
Apart from that, the Glen Johnson acquisition and the solidification of the Rafa and Gerrard deals are the biggest news. I for one am fairly pleased with getting Johnson, but feel that the Reds need more depth, if anything happens to Stevie or Torres the team is in tough.
Thats not to say they're totally screwed, I hear that drivel coming from the Man U fans all the time, "without Gerrard and Torres LFC is screwed." Bull, they beat Man U without them the first time, and when they did have them they embarrassed Man U.
I look at last season and have the opinion that Liverpool was the best team in the EPL, they routinely beat the other Big 4 teams with the exception of the 2 draws against Arsenal, but they dont have the roster depth to accommodate injuries to Gerrard and Torres, especially in light of the sheer volume of matches that they play being involved in all of the various tournaments.
Further, the depth on Defence needs to be better and some more guys have to start chipping in on the scoresheet. The number of draws has to be reduced drastically, too many draws against smaller teams cost them the title last season and its painful to watch a team that beats the big guns in England and Europe lose hardware due to draws against Everton, Wigan, Stoke and Hull.
Anyways, heres to a successful season for the boys in Red!!
You'll Never Walk Alone!

You're right that the issue is depth, but it's not just about injuries to a couple top guys. The problem is simply having the depth to weather a grueling EPL season, CL, and Cup matches. United's championships are often the result of simply not dropping points that they should take, and IMO that has a lot to do with having such a deep squad.
At the top of the table each of the teams can beat every other one on any given day, the difference usually comes down to what is done against the lower half of the mid table teams.

One day you'll regret taunting me.

I'll start with:
YANKS OUT!
(I want Man City's owners!)
I'm looking forward to a good year with hopefully some silverware at the end of it this time. Last season there was major progression. Only 2 losses in 38 games was the best in the league. Too many draws, especially at Anfield, has to be improved on. Finding another goal in three of those matches would have made them Champions.
I'd like to seem them add more depth for sure but do they have the funds to do so? I do not want to see Alonso or Masch go to allow them to do that.
Like I said we need the current owners gone and someone like DIC, with deeper pockets, in.

I think somebody's going to make a 09/10 Premier League thread, but I guess that still won't do for Newcastle...

Skrtel & El Zhar are going home to get looked at. Skrtel injured his hamstring, not good.

Looks like Nemeth is making a bit of a name for himself on their Eastern tour.
A brace against Singapore.

Great thread! I've been a long time Liverpool fan, since the days of Rush, Grobbelaar and later John Barnes, so I'll be paying close attention. Rush was the reason why I had to have #9 back when I played.

It looks like Arbeloa will be on the way to Real Madrid. Johnson in, Arbeloa and Dossena out at the back.
