Is it a bad thing that I have the same crib bedding and Flames lamp for my baby girls room? Girls like red, right?
(Room looks great!)

Your kid is either going to have an unnatural obsession with the Flames or he's going to be scared s***less of them.

Great room! You gotta start 'em young, eh?
For me, my most cherished Flames baby item is this T shirt my dad bought me right after the Flames won the cup! I was 11 months old then.
Edit: I showed my dad your photos. He laughed and said "Geez, that kid's gonna end up like you!". I think he meant that was a good thing, I hope!

Just you wait until a few years down the road when he says "Dad, I want to paint my room in the same colours as the leafs" because he wants to be different from you. You heard it here first. The room looks great though.

Our girls name also started with C. At this point if he didn't end up being a Carter we'd have to pick up a couple of extra letters and we'd have a little girl Flames fan, lol.
I'm hoping he'll have an unnatural obsession with them instead of a clown-like fear!

i don't find the room itself as the accomplishment, rather the fact that you actually married a woman who would go along with the idea. lucky lucky man

I was glad when the mobile just played an ordinary lullabye. It would have been funny at first if it played a Flames original, but you're right that could scar a kid.
It took a lot of convincing to get her on board with an entire Flames theme. Finding the cute mobile sealed the deal though.

Cool crib set. Two years ago before my son was born we could not find a decent Flames crib set, so my wife bought some other theme (I didn't really look to hard my self, so I am taking my wifes word for it).
Could you not find a Flames wall paper border? I thought I saw them at Home Depot two years ago. They could have been tacky, ,my memory is a little foggy.

You know someday he will look back at the pictures of his baby room and rebel by becoming an Oilers fan. Forget emo, he'll grow a mullet, get a tatoo of his truck and listen to kid rock all night long.

Looks awesome!! I'm jealous of your (and your wife's) organization and decorating skills... our baby girl's nursery is currently a pile of random stuff we've bought and a half assembled crib. She's due in 5 weeks. Also she remains nameless so I'm envious of baby Carter in a lot of ways right now.
I do have the same lamp though!!

Looks great!! Love the name with the flaming C (is that why you picked the name Carter??) And I agree, you are very organized -- we didn't have our little one's room done until 3-4 wks prior to my due date!

I'm pretty sure that we could have found a Flames wallpaper border, but we didn't have any luck in finding a peel and stick removeable border. (Home Depot has Cars and Tinkerbell for removeable borders) In 2 or 3 years my son may want a dinosaur room, not a Flames room and I wanted to be able to make that change with as little work as possible.
Peanut - I committed to having everything done by the start of August, but I had to do a fair bit of work to get the room ready as it used to be our computer room, so we just kind of kept going at it. I think we're a bit gungho about getting everything ready so that we don't need to worry about it at crunch time. I didn't want to be running home to set up a crib, or clean up if we ended up being early. 10 weeks early is maybe a bit over the top, but at least it's done!
Beachy - We actually picked the name out long before. My wife saw wooden letters at Walmart with her dad and they figured it would be great to paint his name in Flames colours. I took it a step further and said if we were doing that, that the C had to be the logo.
All in all I hope that my child doesn't go to the darkside in being an Oilers fan. Kids tend to like teams that draft big names though (my stepson is a surrogate Penguins fan), and we all know Edmonton doesn't finish far enough out of playoff contention to get a good draft pick. I won't force him to keep his room in Flames setup though when he's old enough to pick. (that should hold back some of the need to become a fan of another team to spite me!) His name though will stay as Grandpa put a lot of work into it.

People bug me all the time that my son will end up cheering for the Oilers. At the age of two he is more interested at throwing rocks in puddles than anything else. Still, my 10 year old daughter has turned into quite the Calgary Flames fan. She used to pretend that she liked the Oilers, I think just to spite me. Now she wears a Flames or a Dion Phaneuf shirt to school at least three days a week. Watches as much of the games as she can (she is in bed usually before the game ends). Plus I take her to about 5 games a year.
