Default best php editor

Need to pick up PHP again, but don't know which PHP editor is the best one to use.

Windows XP, any suggestions?
thanks.

Notepad? Srsly? Booourns. Only masochists code anything with notepad.

On Windows:
PS-Pad: http://www.pspad.com/ | My personal fav
Notepad++: http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm
Ultraedit: http://www.ultraedit.com/ | best of the bunch, but costs money

Also good if you want a full on IDE:
Eclipse: http://www.eclipse.org/pdt/
Zend Studio: http://www.zend.com/en/products/studio/ | Eclipse addon by the makers of PHP.

Not really relevant to the thread topic, but in case anyone cares, I use Textmate and Coda on OSX. Both are lightyears better then any text editor I've used on the Windows platform.

I have heard good things about Dreamweaver as a code editor. One of the better PHP syntax highlighters out there apparently.

Too bad my raging hate on for anything remotely WYSIWYG tarnishes my opinion of that product

I agree with this. TextMate is light years ahead of any text editor I've used in Windows. Coda is very nice as well.

As for Windows, there is a free IDE that runs on OSX/Windows/Linux, called Aptana Studio. It's an IDE core that offers various "Perspectives" that can be added on for Rails, PHP, CSS, Python, etc etc.

There is also Eclipse, which is an open-source, multi-platform IDE. There's also an option to install the Aptana Studio mentioned above as a plugin for Eclipse.

Edit: Whoops. Missed that Eclipse was already recommended...

It has been a looooong time since I did much to do with coding of any type but ConText? I remember using it many moons ago, and I think it was pretty good.
