Default Man Sets Self on Fire in Calgary

Apparently this happened a few moments ago, in front of the Harry Hays Building.

Might be fake.

I know its cold, but thats impractical.

He should have set the Harry Hay's Building on fire and then warmed himself by its fiery carnage.

Its true!! My fiance called me about it, she saw the dude literally smoking as he got loaded into the ambulance. Then she saw a fender bender from the rubberneckers driving by. A rather exciting day on her way home to let our puppy, Iggy, out...

No kidding, that guy wasn't even next on the list....

There we go again.

At the same time though, what possible cause could this guy have for setting himself on fire? Protesters have done it for decades in order to gain support for their causes but its usually something fundamentally worthwhile like freedom from oppression and equal rights and things of that nature.

What could this guy be complaining about in Calgary? Maybe I'm wrong, but in this instance the old adage rings true...

"No one put a gun to your head" could easily translate into: "No one doused you in fuel and threw a match at you."

There can only be so much sympathy for self-inflicted wounds.

Highest likelihood is that the guy had mental problems.

While some of the jokes are funny, it would be nice to get some actual news about this.

Someone set themselves on fire in front of a government building. Sort of big news for Calgary.

It only happened a few hours ago. They'll probably want to speak with those involved and get some idea of what's actually going on, rather than just rushing to publish something. They could tell you someone set themselves on fire, but we already knew that. I suspect it will be a few more hours until something substantial comes out.

Not saying it isn't true but if it was I'm sure that the news would be all over it... Not a thing that I have seen or heard... It's been an hour - I know media doesn't report suicides/attempts but this is not someone chugging a bottle of bleach...

I never said otherwise. But what hobo wants to be disposed of by a second rate usurper?

Right. But what info would the cops give them in an hour?

Reporter: Who was this guy/gal?
Cop: No idea yet.
Reporter: Why'd he do it?
Cop: No idea yet.
Reporter: What's his condition?
Cop: Crispy.
Reporter: Will he live?
Cop: No idea yet.
Reporter: Is this about an immigration issue?
Cop: No idea yet.

Well, you get the point.
