Yeah I did, I posted about it in another thread. It was the same thing, I'm playing Be a Pro as Huselius and this girl just robs me all game and gets first star. It was pretty funny, but I was totally puzzled as to what the heck was going on.

I'm going to be the heartless b****** that voices the opinion of that being a pain in the ass. I know I know ... sick kid, I shouldn't complain. Why do they have to make them so damn good? If you don't remember to banish them to the euro leagues or at least edit their stats before a dynasty you'll find those kids can become quite prominent by year 3. In last years game Florida rode Stratton Whittakers ass all the way to a cup.
I'm just bitter because I got 20 games into a dynasty and realized I forgot to remove the kid so I have to start over. I'm fully aware hell awaits me.

I think it's a legit opinion Russic. I mean, all for giving kids in that situation a chance to be in the game, but nice to know ahead of time that they are there. I wasn't aware until just now about this girl. I remember playing 07 with the Whittaker kid.

What's the problem with having the kid in the game though?
I've played Dynasty mode before... there are always new "rookies" that are generated and inserted into the league as you progress from season to season.
What's the difference between someone named Sabrina Ladha winning the Vezina in 2011 in the game, vs someone named Jarome Fedorov (which is how the "rookies" are named)?
I don't see the big deal. So the kid is good, there's always a new rookie that is good every season. At least this one is for a good cause.

IMO they could have just picked a better position to make her a 98 if she was a 98 D or F it wouldn't impact the game so much but because she is a goalie she stops everything. I thought I was going crazy at first...

My problem is that the rookies generally don't get that good that quickly. I play a ton of games every year and I've never gotten past year 5 before. I've never seen a rookie win an award besides the calder (but I've seen Zach Priest win a Richard). It isn't as though it's something that makes me sit up at night lifting weights and crying, I just find it mildly irritating. Yes, the happiness of a terminally ill kid is far more important than how irritated I am. I just wish they'd make them a little more like every other rookie in the game.

Well, I guess I can understand the immediate frustration with her being so good so fast.
I usually just play through a season or two and then switch from playing the games to just simming them and working on managing the team. That's when the seasons fly by and I start to see a lot of the rookies winning all the hardware.
I do see the difference between rookies winning 5 seasons from now vs next season, so I guess that's a valid point. I'm just more empathetic to the whole cancer thing than I probably should be, I guess.

and that's why you're a better man than I! I'm somewhat dead inside. I'm also not sure you can be too empathetic to a kid dying of cancer.

I found it pretty cool that EA would actually do this. Yes they could have put her in a different area of the game (ie. not the dynasty or BAP) and I don't know if they had to make her invincible but I still think it's pretty cool even if she did ruin a 6 game winning streak.
The picture of her is pretty funny... kinda caught me of guard though.

The most hilarious part is when they do the 3 stars at the end and she's got her mask off..its not like a generic goalie or something, its this goalie with the little girl's head. I was a little creeped out by it actually.

Zach Priest was the same in 07. He kinda looked like that alien from the Alien Autopsy film.

Wow. I recalled Zach Priest from NHL 2000. Must be one of the developer's kids.

I remember signing him a couple separate times in NHL 2005. I think it was because he was fast and that's all i really cared about.

You have nothing to worry about based on what I said about her on another forum. Yes it was before I knew the story, but still...

Played against her for the first time just today and I lost 4-2, she was on Nashville. I wonder how many Stanley Cups she has combined. As well as Conn Smythes and Vezinas.

I played against her today, she was with Vancouver. It was back to back. Needless to say, in the two games, no goals for me.

I read about this early enough that she is plying her trade in the Swedish 2nd Division in my game. Good for her, win all the championships you want over there.
