I always asked my parents: "Why the hell would girls need something (tampons) to stop them from peeing all over themselves?"

i thought the Canucks and Oilers were teams worth cheering for
by the time i started following hockey i had more of a national thing going, cheering for any Canadian team that did well. moving to Calgary though quickly cured me of such ills

I used to think in the old days the world was black and white, because old TV shows and movies were black and white.

I thought that when they filmed movies, they'd use a kid as an actor, wait for him to grow up, then finish shooting the rest of the movie...

I used to think that when you got fired from your job, they literally set you on fire. Tried to stop my dad from going to work a couple times because of that.

I used to be deathly afraid of stepping on those metal grates in the sidewalk in the downtown core, thinking I was definitely going to fall through. I remember that vividly. I would try my darnedest to step on those metal footprints, often having to jump from one to the next.
Edit- every answer so far has made me laugh. Awesome thread.

calgaryflames.com forum was a good place to post.
I also wanted to be a sewer worker because I thought the Ninja Turtles actually existed.

Must've made your dad feel like a million bucks for his kid to say "But what if you get fired" before he leaves for work...

I believed in Santa. So much that I actually saw him in the sky. My imagination ruled.

That is priceless! I hope your Dad appreciates that....what a cool story that would be to remember.
Mine....
Was convinced that I had everything it took to be an NFL wide receiver until I was about 13.

I guess being (assumingly) younger, I have a similar one. When I was in elementary, and we would watch those nature films where they'd show the rocky mountains and such. I always used to think that forests and scenery was much more grainy and blandly colored back when the films were shot.

I thought that when a man matured and had a erection seeds would sprout on the outside of his member. I imagined they would look like sesame seeds and rub off during sex. Alas, I got older and no seeds ever sprouted.

Haha...
I started this thread a long time ago and I was actually reading through it YESTERDAY and almost bumped it.
Stop stalking me Burninator!
I used to think that bank machines just gave you money when you needed it and always wondered why my dad didn't just take out a million dollars rather than go once a week.

LOL that was totally me. I remember my mom was on strike once from the hospital, she dragged me downtown to picket with her and the other nurses and I wouldn't cross those without using the feet.
