Hey everybody, bought myself a new digital SLR for Christmas, and need to unload my old Film SLR and my digital camera for reasonable $$.
So I have:
Film Camera
Canon Rebel 2000 - Takes all Canon EOS lenses (backwards and forwards compatible)
Has many great shooting modes and even a novice can take awesome photos. I paid a little over $450.00 CAD new for it (bought in San Francisco at Best Buy about six years ago so the exchange was murder). Still in perfect shape...
It has a hot shoe for an external flash as well as a built in pop-up flash that is farily decent for a pop-up flash and I am including the
28-80 mm Autofocus compatible EF Zoom lens f:3.5-5.6 that came with it. The lens and camera are both in perfect condition and work fine. My batteries are almost dead and I don't have film right now but all the mechanicals and electronics are still working. My new digital SLR is the Rebel XTi and this lens functions perfectly well on the new camera.
I have the original box, and manual to go with it
I semi-retired it when I bought my digicam, but it is still in perfect order..
I am asking
$150.00 for it and am
willing to deliver within Calgary on a Sunday.
Here's a link to a site with photos and specs for the Canon Rebel 2000. (The only difference between that one and mine is that mine has no silver on the lens, it is all black, which is more normal for Canon consumer lenses. Big Professional lenses are often white, but I've never seen the silver details on the lens as shown in the photo)

The Digital Camera...
In 2005 I decided to go Digital but SLR's were too pricey and point and shoots were too limited after being used to film SLR, so I bought the
Fuji Finepix S5200 (5.1 Megapixels, 10X Optical Zoom, 5.7X Digital Zoom, Fuji Super CCD). Link -

Below are a couple of slideshows of shots I personally took with the camera, and I'm certainly no pro. I've taken a couple of thousand pctures with the camera, and probably 95% of them turn out great. You can mess it up of you try but generally it's pretty idiot-proof.
(Please note that these are low quality because of file size limits on photobucket. They are generally down samples at 800X600 of images shot at
2592X1944. The photos are much crisper than the slideshow shows, but it gives you a good idea of the nice colour reproduction and zoom capabilities. (The birds are a bit blurry because they were shot at 57X zoom without a tripod... Practically impossible to avoid a shake at that zoom without a tripod.)
I have the original, box, manual, software CDROM, connector cables to view on TV, USB connnector for the computer, all of which came with
the Camera.
In addition I am including
3 XD memory cards, a
16 MB that came with the camera, a
256 MB that I bought right away and a
1 GB card I bought when I started shooting RAW. The total value of these cards is probably about $35-$40. I am also including a
Tamron 58mm circular polarizing filter, which is the best and most important filter you can have for outdoor shooting (
http://dpfwiw.com/polarizer.htm). It also serves to protect your lens from scratches if you're walking around without the lens cap on. I paid $70 for the filter, but am including it in the overall price.
The camera runs on 4AA batteries, I have rechargables that take a tonne of pictures before running out, (not included, I'm keeping them for my new flash).
Overall I've been extremely pleased with this camera. My major reason for replacing it is that you can't hook up an external flash to it, which becomes annoying if you are trying to take long shots in dim light. Basically, I went back to SLR to have more lens options and an external flash, because I find it works better for things like my son's school concerts, piano recitals and other very dim interior shots. Having said that, the photo quality is exceptional in 99% of the circumstances I've used it in, and I have over 1500 photos on my hard drive in the two years I've owned it.
Asking price for the Fuji is $250.00 including everything, mentioned.
Same deal on delivery as mentioned for the Canon.
