Default How Many Accidents Tomorrow?

Will there be in the good old City of Calgary tomorrow morning?

Oh, I know we've beaten driving to death here, but I just drove home on Deerfoot and I witnessed some funny stuff. I cruised the middle lane at a modest ~90 with my new tires and my trusty 4x4. The left lane consistently passed me at ~110 and I passed the right lane and their ~60.

It's going to be a skating rink tomorrow morning, folks. I think I'll wait until 10ish before leaving the house.

I wager 200 "accidents".

Forecast Issued: 5.23 PM MST Tuesday 20 November 2007

Tonight:
A few flurries ending near midnight then clearing. Wind northwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light this evening. Low minus 12.

Yup, if that wind blows all night it could really make things slick. I suspect the city will be going hard at cleaning the streets all night but side roads will be nasty though. I'll go a bit more conservative and say 118.

I bet emergency services people just cringe going to bed knowing what hell they're going to have to deal with after all the idiots get in their car and try to go to work

Well I saw two accidents on my way home from Chinook tonight, so I'd say roughly 400.

Any road not sanded is going to be zamboni fodder tomorrow. The earth was somewhat warm from a sunny day, the snow came down wet and the temp is a solid -12.

Just think of whats going to happen at Deerfoot and Southland...

Ugly. In September I decided to quit driving downtown every day cause I felt the stress was taking years off my life so I'll be interested to see how the bus handles it. Better load up the PSP tonight.

I just got in the door. The roads were madness - even those folks you could see TRYING to be cautious were effed. Some dude driving a beat up old Firefly was having a helluva time keeping the little car straight.

My advice? Don't drive tomorrow.

I just got home, and those road are definitely nasty. With the temperature tonight and the winding gusting, it could be a nasty start to the morning for some people. While driving home it was slippery in most sections, but it was nice to see some city plowers on the road already.

well this sucks, i had planned to put the winter tires on my car this weekend. somehow i don't think my performance summer treads are going to cut it

wasn't so bad for the drive home around 7:30 though, everything except the on-ramp from Barlow south to 16th Ave east i managed ok (ended up Dukes of Hazzard'ing that ramp way more than i would have liked). but what really pissed me off is how stupid this entire city gets with a little dusting of snow. people are going SO slow on highway one just east of the city that they're bound to cause accidents as people traveling at a reasonable speed have to slam on their brakes and end up sliding as a result. i just wish there was some way to keep people off the roads entirely if they're unable to adapt to less than favorable driving conditions

HAHA. I got sick of deerfoot and took blackfoot for a spell. At the on ramp from glenmore EB, some dum dum in a red F-150 slammed on his brakes because his merge lane wasn't long enough. The result was a following too close Benz almost rear ending him.
My crystal ball tells me that many of tomorrows accidents will be following too close related.
