Default Buy & Sell Forum Guidelines (Updated April 2013)

This is a forum where you can post things that you want to get rid of, or ask for things you need (or even trade one for the other).
All the standard guidelines apply to this forum, but since there's buy/sell activity going on there's a few more things...

Ticket Sales - Please use the Ticket Exchange Subforum for Tickets sales (Flames, Stamps, Concert, etc). Please note that the Ticket Subforum has its own set of rules; including a 100 post count minimum.

The Rules
  • No homemade or copied DVDs or tapes of any professional sports games.
  • No porn.
  • No alcohol, tobacco, drug, or weapon sales.
  • No pirated/bootleg/illegal software sales/trades allowed.
  • No commercial services or products. Commercial is defined items obtained and sold for the purpose of profit.
  • Prices must be posted for ALL items, no auctions allowed.
  • While it is alright to link to another site like Kijiji for additional information or pictures, you must have at least a description of what you are selling.
  • No critical posts. If you have questions, ask them. If you think the price is too high PM the seller with a lower offer or keep it to yourself. This includes posting links to places selling lower priced items.
  • No scamming. Scamming is misleading the buyer or seller for the purposes of profiting. This may include selling something that is faulty or knowingly misrepresenting the quality of the item to inflate the price. If you scam, you will be banned and reported to the authorities. If you feel you have been scammed, please contact the mods.
  • Please limit yourself to one or two active threads at a time. If you have a number of items for sale, please put them into one thread.
  • Please limit the bumping (bringing your thread to the top) to once per day. Also keep in mind that not all items will sell, so try to keep the number of total bumps to a minimum.
  • When your item sells; or the thread is no longer relevant, please do not delete your thread. That also includes editing all the info out. It's fine to remove any contact info or adding an indication it is sold, but leave the thread intact. There is nothing worse than spending time trying to search for the thread; only to find out the seller deleted the info.
Be smart about buying and selling, especially if it's someone you have to ship to/from. Use an online payment service and your Credit Card so you can get your money back if the seller doesn't send the item. If you have 3 posts and the other person has 3,000 expect to have to send the money/item first and the other person will respond after they have verified your half of the deal.

If you have any other suggestions for safe online buy/sell post them here.

Is there any way to upload pics? Or do you have to use a URL to save CP server space?

I ahve a question? Can we sell things at markup on here like Wii's? I know tickets must be sold at face value, but what about commodities?

Just to clarify one rule, about commercial sales. We view commercial sales as obtaining things and selling them with the intent of profit.

While the sale of a console at above retail is like this, selling one at a profit isn't a big deal.. however selling many of them is.

Don't abuse the privilege to advertise things above retail cost, or we'll have to remove it.

As it has come up recently we would like to clarify one thing regarding ticket posts. If you have tickets to give away for free, and you have fewer than 100 posts, you may post them in the main Buy & Sell section. However they must be absolutely free with no strings attached. Meaning no giving away "free" tickets with the purchase of a $100 hockey puck.

Of course if you have a single to give away and you think the person getting it should buy you a beverage at the game- that's OK. The key here is common sense, and understanding why the rules are in place.

It looks like people need another reminder; as we have been seeing a lot more critical posts lately.

Just to be clear- the only replies that should be in here are either asking a legitimate question about the item for sale (and one that would be good public knowledge), or a suggestion if it is solicited.

What does that mean? If there is a wanted post and you know where to find what they are looking for, go ahead.

Basically ask yourself "will what I am posting help or hurt the person." If it will help, and it is not a critical post, then go ahead.

In the buy/sell forum you need a price to post something for sale. If you want opinions, the OT forum is probably the best place.

I can't believe we actually had to make this a rule, but I just added the following. (Which will be known as the "flameswin rule.")

While it is alright to link to another site like Kijiji for additional information or pictures, you must have at least a description of what you are selling.
