The rules are the same. Doesn't mean we sit around measuring the size of each signatures all day. If you are concerned about consistency report any users that have signatures over the limit and we'll get right on it.

Thats a fair statement, but at the same time its still super annoying that the rules apply differently to different people.

I can appreciate that too, Jiri, but I'm not the kind of person that really reports that stuff, even if it is anonomys.
I just feel like theres a little more attention paid to particular users, but maybe that's just part of the nature of having Humans as moderators.

Well if you don't report it, chances are we won't become aware of it unless it's a frequent poster. Like Jiri said, we don't sift through all the sig images daily to find the ones that don't fit. Either someone has to report it, or a moderator has to notice it.
That can appear like special attention, but it honestly isn't. Mind you if someone has a few out of spec sigs in a row then yes their sig might get noticed quicker, but that's to be expected.

Thanks dude! It was about 17px too tall so I had to resize it, but then about 5 mins later I saw a dude's that is 600px wide! That's what compelled me to post here, but I don't want to ruin anyone else's signature fun either!
I made a small wallpaper of this pic in the "Can Jessica Simpson Save the NHL" Thread, but i think that thread was over.

My understanding is that it is for lower speed connected users, not about aesthetic concerns.

It's for both; a large vertical sig takes up way too much space. A 600px sig though is a bit wide, considering that some may still be at 800x600

No offense alltherage since I really like your graphic work... but even your current sig is like 80 pixels too large... perhaps not by the rules but why do you need it so big?

Hm.. think everyone flip out if we knocked 50 pixels off the sig image size limit?

I have them turned off, same with avatars. Never really liked having the pages longer then need be.
I often find them distracting too..
But, that's just me, seems a lot of people find enjoyment in them

I find it easier to find some people by their avatar when scanning through a thread, and they don't take too long to load.
The sigs or images in a thread can really slow things down, but other than when I load a really big page (I have the forums set to 50 posts/page) I don't really notice a lag.

See, now this is whack. my sig was 366 x 150, 67kb:
which is below the guidelines in px and kbs, yet it got removed. Why not just change the bloody rule, and I'll just stop having a damn signature.

Alright, the amount of text below a sig image allowed is subjective in the rules, and there were different ideas of what's reasonable.
We'll discuss it and make it more explicit, so you can put your image back in your sig and take out your protest link. Remember, it's not a conspiracy against you...
