The Herald this morning said it was an arm...
Not as bad as a head, but still!

My stomach always turns whenever I hear of something like this, but for it to be right here in our city and only a few blocks from where I used to live? I might have nightmares just thinking about that.
When hasn't this sort of thing lead to the finding of more though? Like do we have a sadistic killer on the loose in Calgary and more will die? It's actually very scary when you think about what this could lead to. I hope the police catch the killer fast because no one wants to be hearing about a string of killings to innocent people.

If its an arm, I don't think it would be safe to assume that the person is necessarily dead....although if no 1 armed person has shown up at a hospital or clinic in the last 48 hours in the Calgary area I guess they would be.
Bu the news on Friday said it was a murder right away..which made me think it was a head...plus, can your arm identify you? Other than fingerprints of course...

fingerprints.
Sounds like a typical thing, other parts are probably scattered all over the city in other dumpsters, if the killer was smart he would have kept the fingers since its less likely that there's a DNA sample of the victim out there as oppossed to a finger print record.

I suppose scars and tatoos might lead to an id as well

Probably the severed arm from one of the bums fighting over my bottles last night.
For all the new houses and expensive shacks being built in Marda Loop, people should know it was the armpit of Calgary about 15 years ago. Apparently not all the dirtbags have been driven out yet.

This is in my area of the city. I drove by on 34th Avenue just as the forensic van was setting up the yellow tape the other day. Couldn't have been anything else. Talk about your heeby jeebies.

You must be referring to the porter at the Rockyview Hospital that murdered her female lover and dismembered her, then left her in (several) boxes in storage in a garage.

I was going to say the same thing. Maybe it's another lesbian affair gone awry. I've lived in this area since it's 'armpit' days. I'm curious as per why throw away only an arm?

That's the one. My first week moved into the area is when that happened. Coming from then small town Okotoks I told myself welcome to the city.

Wouldn't it make it harder to find a body by just by dumping it into a landfill than cattering parts in many city dumpsters? (increasing the chances of somebody finding something)
Sorry, that was morbid.

I should think the best option would be to just not murder to begin with. Abstain people, please! Or maybe that's too much to ask for?

You seem to be ruling out the possibility it is gang-related, which is the first thing that came to my mind.

I don't really know what gangs do, but Hollywood has led me to believe they have creative ways of killing people.

I think what Hollywood has taught your typical dumb gangster is that if you shoot someone (holding the gun sideways) they fall over and die and you move on. Chopping someone up into pieces requires a real commitment. It's much more mentally and physically challenging to chop a person up than it is to shoot them from your car as they come out of a wedding reception.
