Avs 3, Bruins 1

The Avalanche continue to play well agains the top teams in the CPHL while struggling against teams they should be beating. Today was a 3-1 victory with new arrival Fernando Pisani making an immediate impact.
Pinsani got a goal and an assist for Colorado, and Legace continued his spectacular play since returning from an injury.
Rumours of Dave Andreychuk's possible retirement seem to have been premature, as he scored one and assisted on another. Scott Walker also got his first goal for the Avs.

The Perfect Game?

SABRES 0

No Scoring Martin

Gerber 23 saves, L, 5-6-1

THRASHERS 6

GUERIN(29,30) SYDOR(5) GAUTHIER(5) SHANAHAN(21) HALL(11)

Patrick Lalime 20 saves, W, 31-9-1

3 Stars: 1- Guerin 2- Shanahan 3- Carter Att: 18750

The Atlanta Thrashers hosted the Buffalo Sabres today and executed Coach Petersons game plan to perfection.
The Thrashers dominated the game on all fronts and didnt allow the Sabres a sniff in this game.
The Thrashers outshot the Sabres 36-20 taking 12 shots in each period, but did not take one penalty in the game while scoring on one of the 3 Sabre misfractions.
Bill Guerin led the way with 2 goals and an assist, while Brendan Shanahan had 1 goal and 2 assits on the night.
Other point getters were Anso Carter with 2 assists, Captain Craig Conroy with 2 assists, and Martin St Louis with two assists.
Patrick Lalime picked up his league leading 5th shutout and 31st win of the year on the night.
The Sabres were held to a minimal 20 shots on net with only 3 getting through to Lalime in the 3rd period.
A Perfect game!

Next game for the Thrashers is a quick trip to Columbus to face the Blue Jackets tomorrow, before flying home for a match against the oldest GM in the league Axel Axmann and his Flames on Monday.

The battered and bruised Jackets manage to squeak out a 2-1 win, led by Tomas Kaberle and the stellar goaltending of Kevin Weekes.

Son of a B! Well, the third line pooped the bed. I guess Cooke knew he was on his way out. Hopefully having Bonk on the 3rd line will keep that from happening again. 1 for 6 on the PP is pretty weak too. Again, enter the Bonk.

Well Looks Like Daigle enjoyed his brief Time In Ottawa.

1 G played. Scores twice and was named the games second star.. LOL
Shortly after the game it was learned that he was moved to Florida for Nylander... Lets hope Nylanders debut is as good or better than Daigle's

Turco played well again as did Smyth who was named the games 3rd star..

Wow, a whole 16 SOG. Just wow. Ryan Miller has proven to be quite the unstudly goaltender. Alex Perezhogin, where art thou?? Pretty quiet couple of weeks for the young stud but not to worry, he will regain his studly form before too long.

ISLES DROP THIRD STRAIGHT

Nashville goaltender Tomas Vokoun stops a shot in the third period while
fending off teammate Geoff Sanderson.

UNIONDALE, NY - Cristobal Huet made 34 saves on the night but it proved to be not enough as the Nashville Predators clipped the Islanders 3-1 on Saturday.

Huet, who made his first start in 12 games turned aside all 23 shots he faced in the first two periods to preserve the scoreless tie as his team failed to answer the Nashville pressure, firing only 14 shots at Predator goalie Tomas Vokoun.

The Predators outshot the Islanders in every period and continued their dominance in the third period eventually outshooting the Islanders by a 37-23 margin.

Geoff Sanderson opened the scoring in the third period with his 21st of the campaign snapping a quick shot past Cristobal Huet, who was trying to locate the puck through a crowd in front of his crease.

Less than a minute later Henrik Sedin would score his 12th of the year beating Huet with a pretty backhand-forehand move to put Nashville up by a pair.

David Vyborny would answer for the home team at 8:26 of the third banging in a goal mouth scramble to draw the Isles within one, but Dan Hinote's marker at 17:42 secured the nail in the coffin extending the Isles losing skid to three consecutive games.

The Isles play next on Monday when they visit the Ducks in Anaheim.

Game Notes - Tuomo Ruutu was a healthy scratch against the Predators... No word on whether the young forward re-aggravated an injury or his absence was due to other reasons... Sergei Gonchar saw only 23 minutes of icetime which is markedly low for the all star defenceman... it's suspected a bruised knee sustained in the first period off a Ed Jovanovski point shot forced Islanders coach to lower his minutes... Team officials do not expect Gonchar to miss any further games because of it.

PREDS WIIIIIINNNNNNNNN

After multiple losses, the Preds finally won. The top defenceman Jovonovski and Mclaren logged a lot of minutes and recently acquired VanRyn had his best outing with 3 assists and +2 rating.

The team got goals from Sanderson, Hinote, H. Sedin. The big guns Yashin, Naslund, Kariya were all held scoreless. The team prepares for Bruins, who the Preds lost to by one goal couple days ago.
