Holy smokes talk about depressing times. It's bad enough the economy is in the dumps and people are losing their jobs and to further make things gloomy, popular celebrities and musicians are dying left and right.
My thought exactly, not an Eagles fan myself although a huge Joe Walch fan.
I have great respect for The Eagles as musicians. I like most of their stuff, but their not a band I actively seek out.
The History of the Eagles doc on Netflix gave me more of an appreciation for them. I recommend watching, especially if you;re a fan of Walsh. There are some pretty emotional moments from him. He truly loved just being in the band, didn't like all of the in-fighting, and was legitimately heartbroken when they broke up.

Ya, this is so sad. Frey was not a particularly likable guy by most accounts but it would seem his methods got the best out of his band mates even if he eventually drove out 2 of the originals and eventually Don Felder. RIP Glenn.
Unfortunately, these kinds of headlines will only increase in frequency. The first wave of the British invasion are all in their 70's now so there's many more icons that will pass away in the next few short years. Sad day.
I'm a massive eagles fan from when I was young....back to the Desperado days.
This is a gut punch, particularly on the heels of Bowie last week.
Saw them the night the Dome re-opened after the flood, and as usual, they were fantastic.
Really sad news. Ugh.
RIP Glen
To me there were two iconic rock songs for me when I was growing up
One was of course Star Way to Heaven which I eventually started to really hate, because of over play.
The other one was hotel California which I still turn up whenever it comes on.
I went to see them back when the band re-united them. It was the first concert that I went to where the tickets were $100.00 or over. But it was worth every penny, they were such a pure musical group.
the Eagles to me are the ultimate road trip band.
You could pop in a tape of DVD or nowdays an MPS player and the miles would just fly by.
A couple of years ago I had to go on a road trip to Grande Prarie for a football game, and it was 13 hours on the bus. I put in my head phones, put on the Eagles and watched the scenery fly by.
With the exception of Golden Earring another great road trip band, I haven't found another band or singer with that effect.

Couldn't agree more....Hell Freezes Over tour... IIRC 1995 (somewhere in there as that part of my life all just blends together).
The music is great, the vocals are terrific and the whole experience of an Eagles show is unforgettable.
And I 2nd the suggestion of watching the documentary on them...remarkable stuff and knowing how close Henley and Frye were, this has to be a very hard time for Don as well as Timothy B and Joe.
Just really sad news.

Henley and Frey had magical chemistry. Another band I will regret passing up seeing thinking there wpuld be a next time.

Yup that was the one.
One of the best concerts that I've ever seen from a musical sense.
If you were looking for a entertainment concert like a Motley, or Bon Jovi you weren't going to get it at an Eagles Concert.
These guys just played their instruments and sang and didn't spend a lot of time talking to the audience.
But at the same time, it was awesome.
I think I'm going to drive home to the Eagles tonight.
