Excellent. Just a matter of time, but nice to see it done. Really interested to see how Smith handles the pro game this season. Hopefully McDonald has a big year and can be the starter at the WJC.

Because someone will ask. McDonald can't be assigned to the AHL until his CHL team's season and playoffs are over.
Because Smith will be 20, he can be assigned to the AHL.

And what about Sam Bennett?
Excited to see what new Stockton assistant coach Dominic Pittis can do with Smith's skating.

Hunter Smith is the big one here today. No pun intended. He's done with JR IMO. Time to measure up against the harder competition! Ya hoo!

Flames terminate Bennett's contract because too many damn people ask about where Sam Bennett can be assigned.

Two good prospects. Really hope Mason MacDonald continues to develop in the Q and as someone said has a good World Jrs. showing. Hunter Smith I would expect will play in Stockton. With Domenic Pittis in Stockton now that hopefully will see Smith continue to improve his skating which is the one area he needs to polish the most.

For the same reasons, McDonald's contract can slide this season and Smith's can't, so it likely means the plan is for Smith to play in Stockton this year.

Including playoffs, Hunter Smith's stat line last year with Oshawa was 32-35-67 in 78 games. Oh, and also 160 PIMs. This from a 6-foot-6 RW.
