Default Aaron Ward predicts Flames make 2014/2015 Playoffs AND WAS RIGHT!

Despite everyone else on TSN saying no chance.

Ummmm. Obligatory 'share your drugs with the rest of us' reference?

Puff, puff, pass Aaron. It's only common courtesy.

Weirder things can happen. Every year there is a team that looks putrid going in that shocks everyone. Montreal a couple of years ago, Columbus a year ago, there is always one..

^ Eh mediocre teams make it into the East every year. Really there's only a handful of above average teams in the East with Washington and Philadelphia taking a step back. I don't think it's much of a surprise for any team to make it, aside from maybe Florida and Carolina.

In the West all the top spots are essentially spoken for (the same eight that made it last season). So really any team outside that group that makes the dance will make for quite the shock.

I don't know who Aaron Ward is, but I'm guessing he's an idiot.

He certainly isn't afraid to look like an idiot.
Probably not a bad thing.

Why not predict a young team with allot of depth, lacking a bit n high-end talent will surprise some people.
Better than predicting a team with OK high-end talent but no depth will do something.

Playoffs or Bust!

I like Wardo, of the former players out there he's one of my favorites. He's pretty unbiased and has at has a few cups on his resume to support his opinions. He also doesn't take his opinions overly seriously like Ferraro, Healy, and Shannon do.

ward has been saying nice enough things about the flames since last season. I just think he really li,es the way they play and likely believes in the youngsters. Having said that in the tough west I don't see how the flames get out of the basement unless Gio is in the running for the Norris, Monahan becomes a legit first line C, Johnny wins the Calder, and our goalies light it up. There is just not enough scoring talent up front and this team is still a ways away from being a contender for the playoffs.

Even if they somehow shock the world I see them being like the Avs a few years ago and fall back to earth because the long term pieces have not matured enough to carry this team for the long haul and there is too big a gap between guys like Monahan and Gaudreau compared to Glencross, Stajan, and Hudler. Outside of Backlundthis team lacks top 6 forwards in the 22-27 age group

I like the optimism, but it's most likely not going to happen. Hilller and Ramo would have to be saving a lot of games for that to happen as well as a couple of Central division teams collapsing/San Jose not doing so well this season.
