Koppenhaver has been arrested and convicted numerous times for violent offences.
On September 2, 2007, he was found guilty of striking a Las Vegas man in the face and choking him unconscious during a parking lot scuffle. In February, 2008, he was sentenced to three years of probation and 30 days of community service, avoiding the possible felony charge and accompanying prison time.
On February 22, 2008, Koppenhaver's San Diego defense attorney arranged a lenient fine and probationary sentence for a prior assault which could have ended his fighting career, if charged as a felony. Koppenhaver's second assault case resulted in a felony conviction. Both of his assault and battery cases were heard in San Diego Courts, according to his attorney.
In February 2009, Koppenhaver began working as a topless bottle server at the alternative gay nightclub Krave in Las Vegas, Nevada. Koppenhaver was arrested at Krave on February 7, 2009, and escorted out by security.
On November 28, 2009, Koppenhaver attacked several people at pornographic actress Brooke Haven's birthday party and ran off before the police came. Here is what was written, allegedly by him, on his Twitter.
"####...last night was NOT good...lil' misunderstanding and then WM was back in effect and the bodies hit the floor. I'm ####ed...Pretty sure my porn days are over. Prolly be going to jail too...when they find me...haha!"
On December 1, 2009, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department issued a warrant for Koppenhaver's arrest. On February 28, 2010, Koppenhaver was arrested in Point Loma in San Diego, California after pushing a bar owner and destroying several glasses in the bar.
On March 31, 2010, he was again arrested in San Diego, California under suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a confrontation at a Pacific Beach bar. The incident allegedly occurred when Koppenhaver was involved in an altercation with several individuals at the Pacific Beach bar and the bar's bouncer attempted to separate them. The bouncer at the bar testified that his conduct was "beyond aggressive ... crazy almost."
On August 8, 2014, It was announced Koppenhaver is being sought out as a suspect in an alleged assault against two other individuals. One of the victims was his girlfriend Christy Mack
Jail Sentences
In August, 2010, Koppenhaver was sentenced to one year in the county jail for a felony assault conviction stemming from a fight at a Point Loma bar earlier in the year, as well as an additional fight at a Pacific Beach bar. He was imprisoned in the San Diego's George Bailey Detention Facility and served time in administrative segregation.
After going to jail, Koppenhaver maintained his Twitter account as well as a blog documenting his time in jail. In this blog, he stated that he believes "The oppression of MEN is worse than oppression of Jews in Nazi germany, worse than the slavery of Blacks in early America... I'm not exaggerating either." Koppenhaver also described how he was sent into administrative segregation due to jail policy violations but decided to voluntarily remain there until the end of his sentence. Koppenhaver was released from incarceration on July 15, 2011.
On February 1, 2012, it was announced via Koppenhaver's Twitter that he will be serving another year of jail time, due to preceding events. He was released on October 29, 2012.
This is why Steven A. Smith's comments on ESPN about women "provoking" the attack should not be tolerated either.
This MMA meathead saw his ex-girlfriend with another guy and feels it isn't his fault for deciding to rupture her liver and break her face. Some people just don't get it.
The only question I have in this is why the third person who was at the place didn't escape and call police himself.

War Machine has until 7 PM Tuesday to turn himself in to cops ... or else the most famous bloodhound in the US -- Dog the Bounty Hunter -- will be gunnin' for him.
TMZ has learned ... a member of Christy Mack's family reached out to Dog through a mutual friend with MMA ties, hoping the mulletted one will succeed where the cops haven't.
Dog's told us he's already made contact with War Machine and given him the ultimatum -- 24 hours, and then you're mine. We're told War Machine was not receptive.
We're told Dog's entire crew will rock immediately after the deadline passes.
