Forbes - The NHL's Most Valuable Teams
Calgary comes in at 11th. UP 71%, that new contract has increased team values, I guess.

Leafs at #1. No surprises there.

One could imagine the worth of the team if they ever get that arena/football stadium complex built.

Flames were worth $220M in 10-11 according to Forbes. Value almost doubled in 2 years.
Leafs have more than doubled in the same time period. Same with the Canucks, Blackhawks, and Jets. Towards the bottom, some of the teams over the last two years have appreciated less than 25%.
The rich get richer.

Thats Bettman's job. Why do you think he keeps getting raises? Because he is making the owners money.

LOL:
Calgary Flames
Current value: $420 mil.
Revenue 2012-13: $420 mil.
Operating income 2012-13: $11.5 mil.
Despite missing the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season in 2012-13, the Flames have averaged 19,289 in attendance per game at the Scotiabank Saddledome—seventh-most in the NHL.
If that were the case, we would be the most valuable sports franchise on the planet.

Also interesting to me:
In 10-11, the top two teams in operating income accounted for the net operating income for the league. The other 28 teams essentially cancelled each other out.
In 11-12, the same can be said for the top five teams. The other 25 washed out.
In 12-13, the same can be said for the top nine teams. The other 21 washed out.
So the money is being spread around better it seems.

Exactly. It makes me laugh when people post that Bettman should be fired. He has a job for life as long as owners keep making money.

Coyotes lost 9 million in a 48 game season. Not going to take very long to hit that $50 mark.

Sorry, don't see how revenue and operating income could have INCREASED during a season where they played ~20 less home games than usual. The Flames are a gate driven team like most hockey markets
This year I can understand how operating income increased due to the player salaries being at a historical low, and attendance being strong over an 82 game season, but during the lockout the Flames still had a huge bankroll that still included Kipper, Iggy, and JBo for most of the year.*
Also, it is pretty widely accepted that most of the league's "sell-out" records are total fabrications. Wednesday's game against the Blue Jackets should prove that
*Actually I misunderstood how they did it, 2013 (the current numbers) represent the lockout season and this season's numbers aren't represented

It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see the Leafs hit O.I. numbers of ~100 million with a good playoff run, which is crazy. They usually get over 80 mil without advancing one round
So the highest revenue an NHL team can hit for a season right now is probably ~225 million

Nice that the Flames are worth the 11th most. I would like to see Ownership and Management rebuild a team that matches that and ranks 11th annual in the annual standings
The fans have made this basement team 11th in profits and deserve much, much better.
