Long time NHL defenseman Adrian Aucoin has announced his retirement and will begin working with the Chicago Blackhawks’ young defensive prospects.

Aucoin was drafted 117th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. On February 7, 2001, Aucoin (along with a second-round pick for the 2001 NHL Entry Draft) was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning for goaltender Dan Cloutier.

Aucoin signed a four year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on August 2, 2005, but after two injury shortened seasons with the squad, he was traded to Calgary for defencemen Andrei Zyuzin and Steve Marr.

Aucoin finishes his career with 1072 total NHL games played, as well as totaling one point shy of 400.
Always like Aucoin when he was here. I still remember that moment at the Skills competition where he was being interviewed for the crowd and pointed to his wooden stick after the hardest shot event and went "Hey parents, thirty dollarrrrrrrs!".
