Default Calgary Flames: No Post Apex Plan (N-PAP)

Don't quote me on the signing deadlines, I tried to look up the best I could. 4 years for NCAA players after they get drafted and 2 years for Euros and CHL players.

Nice job.

You might want to add in that the conditional 1st from St Louis is also a conditional 4th (if St Louis misses the playoffs).

Also, can you make it so the Signing deadline isn't in the Y/N column?

Any NCAA prospect the signing deadline is August 16th, not June 1st.

That's nifty. Didn't know you could add scroll bars like that.

I think the term "no post apex," though awkward, really captures what the Flames should be targeting. They should probably be aiming for a collective team apex spanning about 2017-2021 and beyond (if they don't hold on to their stars for too long this time).

So the only prospects they need to decide on signing soon are Granlund, Hanowski, Larson, Ramage, and Brossoit?

Out of that group I could see Larson being let go. Not too sure about Hanowski either, but I imagine since he was traded for our franchise player they will get him signed to an ELC.

Granlund and Brossoit have good potential, and Ramage has really improved this year, so they are all must signs IMO.

Feaster and his phrases, I'd rather he do his job.

But nice work!

Feaster already said contracts for Brossoit and Granlund are close. Ramage will be offered as well. Hanowski will get his after frozen 4. Nothing bout Larson. so those should come and help the heat next year along with Wotherpsoon.

Let Aliu, Babchuk, Begin, Cervenka, Bancks, Cameron, Kolanos, Testuide, Walter, Carson, Macdonald, Irving and Taylor all walk.

Stay the hell away from all UFAs, and forget about cap buyouts, no one's going to buy-out someone that isn't post apex.

Trade Cammalleri, Tanguay, Giordano, Stempniak, Jackman, Glencross, Butler and Sarich.

That's your starting point. Go from there.

I still say Cervenka deserves another 1 year deal to see if he can be an NHLer. He's got too much skill to just give up on, especially when we don't have a lot coming down the pipe.

So by your plan we won't be able to ice a nhl team or a AHL team. That way we could forfeit all of our games next year . . . brilliant

Then who the hell is going to play? I get that you don't want UFAs to sign, but from a business perspective this is going to be the equivalent of watching a WHL team playing against an NHL team.

There is a salary floor. We can't be the Houston Astros and have a 18.5 million dollar payroll.

I think instead of staying away from UFA's they might as well sign a couple to high salary, short term (1 or 2 year) deals that can then be dealt at the deadline. If they want to compete and spend to the cap go for it, but that way we can get prospects/picks back and still have a few elite players hanging around.

Just like what Dallas did with Roy/Jagr this year, and the type of deals Semin has signed in the past. Sign guys like Ribero, Filpulla, and other UFA's then deal them out at the deadline. Easy way to acquire prospects we'll need 3-4 years from now.

They'll be handing out a lot of ELCs, and you aim for players that can step into the lineup immediately in the trading of your wingers and dmen that I mentioned.

I like this plan a lot, minus one aspect. Signing UFAs means taking roster spots that you could be using for your youngsters. I don't want to see Baertschi playing on the 4th line again next season.
