Default What are you doing for NYE?

Its that time where everyone starts asking everyone what they are doing for NYE. I liked the idea of getting a bunch of rooms in Banff and kind of getting away but not really. That won't be happening as 99% of rooms in Banff are already sold out. I then thought staying at the Kananaskis reserve hotel/casino could be fun and shuttle to Banff and it turns out I am not the only one who thought this either....completely sold out.

What is everyone else doing?

Hopefully not spending $500 on fireworks again, but then again I'm a sucker for New Years.

Our tradition is family and friends have a fancy dinner, everyone in their nice clothes, 7pm, finish dinner and wait for Iceland's yearly comedy show making fun of the years news stories at 10:30 to 11:30, soon as that show is over the crazyness of fireworks, we all go outside and narrowly escape many explosions.

Usually in bed by 4-5am.

Got a buddy getting married at a yaletown restaurant. Nice to have plans made up for you and not having to worry about it.

Staying at home with Mr Minnie and the Minnielettes.

Realtor 1 - did you check out Baker Creek Chalets? Sometimes they have a cabin or two not taken.

Nothing planned yet and couldn't care less this year.
Some years, I really want a great party and some years I can't be bothered. Never been consistent on my New Years enthusiasm.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just checked and its a min 3 night stay and it appears only the Jacuzzi suite is available. Piling a bunch of people into the Jacuzzi suite might come off a tad weird !

Well bugger that then. We stay there a single night, generally, but they might allow that because we are somewhat regular clients. They may have instituted the 3 night stay because of the holidays. Have you ever been out there? Beautiful. Our favorite place to stay. One of these days, I want to go to Storm Mountain and stay in one of their cabins...

Watching the ball drop in Times Square via satellite and going to bed about 10:15 p.m.

Just like every other year.

One year my neighbour was firing off fireworks into a tinder dry forest between our houses . . . . . that was the most exciting New Years I had in the last 20 years or so.

Last New Years of my twenties . . . . Fall down drunk at some low-class bar, trying to hold on to the last remnants of my vanishing youth. And as my vision begins to blur amid the hazy stupor I find myself in, I will realize that all the wrinkles, sore joints, social pressures and "woe is me" emotions will be ever-present the following year when I pull the same excuse to go out and party once again.

Unless I somehow knock-up my girlfriend before the end of March, of course. Then the party changes to poopy.

Working. "Enjoying" a non-alcoholic beer. Maybe two if things get really crazy.

All things considered, I hate New Years.

I guess I won't have to worry about it this year because the world is going to end on the 21st anyway.
