It was about 5:30 AM when we took those pics of the water Fotze. Unbelievably serene...

As for the horse, you should have seen him going through the bogs!!!! Sometimes his legs buried into them up to his belly!! Still kept plodding through though. Dennis got tossed coming back. Both his horse and him got "bogged"!

Those last two pics seem, like fotze said, photoshop tricks.
Very nice, seems like you had yourself one hell of a vacation bud.

Not sure a "Native only" situation would be beneficial, fotze. Unfortunately, under Native rule, game conservation and management comes into question. For example, anglers must use single prod, single line catching devices, while Natives could fish with nets. In Dennis's case, that lake is abundant as he catches only what he, and his once a month type group, can catch. If net catching were allowed, that lake would most likely become dormant in a matter of a year or two.

Ditto with the big game hunting.

When Dennis got up there, the bear population was significantly less than it is now... why? He targets the larger males, who typically try to kill the younger bears. With the bigger males taken out, the two or three younger cubs have a significantly better chance of survival, ironic as it seems.

I have tried to research Tutizzi Lake, but there is little information on it. What I have found it that it is considered "very active" for fishing at this point. One outfitter essentially runs it. Would a group of say 20 or more running continuously be better in the long run? Could it sustain itself or not? Personally, I doubt it. I am glad this lake is in a quite corner of the world; not only surviving, but prospering, versus being exploited by anyone (not just Indians.)

Thanks Pagal, I did indeed.

Perhaps finding the "End of the Earth" might describe it best.

No cars, trucks, buses or exhaust.
No emails, Blackberrys, vibrations or ringtones.
No diapers or wives.
No salesmen or government.
No worries.

I wish my Dad didn't live where they only have dialup connections. I could only upload 9 of the 60 shots we took...

Man, awesome Shawnski!

I wish I had a 'cousin Dennis'. This trip is right up my alley.

Did that Andy character in your pictures live in Calgary at one point?

If you feel like it throw up a few more pictures of your adventure.

Taht pic with the mountains reflecting off the water is freakin beautiful. It reminds me of a couple of different trips that my camera did not attend. I should download it & call it my own...

Yup, Andy, aka Andrew was a Calgary resident before. Sorry, but I didn't get his last name. Know him?

As for more pics, I will try to talk my pops through shrinking the others and emailing them to me. Stay tuned!

On a side note, funny story of the trek:

After a few days up at Tutizzi Lake and the trek back to base camp, we were due for a shower. Dad had the first one then I got in there.... turned on the hot water valve (propane insta-heat style) and there was... nothing. Fine. I need a shower so cold is fine. Got in, soaked down, shampooed the hair, soaped the bod, then turned the cold back on to rinse off.... nothing...no hot... now no cold......

After a few minutes of checking everything I could think of, I cautiously opened the shower huts door, and made a break for the lake... wet sandals and bare assed...

At this point, I have to remind all that this is a glacier fed lake... cold as you can imagine.... SPLOOSH!!!! into the lake, rinsed off, and high tailed it back up the hill to the shower to dress.

Got back to the cook shack where everyone else was congregated and recounted my story of my "shower". Although they were dying laughing, they still questioned why I didn't call for "help".

Right.. Could just see the "America's Funniest Video's" depicting the sighting of the "Great Canadian Wide Assed White Buck".... !!!!

Turns out the valve to fill the camps reservoir had not been opened when we got to camp, thus no water anywhere.

I guess I have been innitiated into the "Polar Bear Swim Club", or whatever it is!!! Certainly glad no one got video of THAT!!

I think I worked with Andy at a water bottleing plant of all places back about 6-7 years ago, if it is the same guy. He was from New Brunswick or Newfoundland or something originally. The guy was a comedian, he had a tatoo of his horse on his forearm.
