Default Will Israel launch unilateral air strikes to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities?

Quote:
All week, senior Israeli military and intelligence officials attending the annual Herziliya Conference on global security in Tel Aviv have been fending off questions from foreign journalists trying to discover whether Israel is about to launch unilateral air strikes to destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The most convincing answer I heard – from a senior officer serving with the Israeli Defence Force – was that, while all the preparations for an Israeli strike have been completed, the final decision on whether to attack has yet to be taken by Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, and Ehud Barak, the defence minister.

I highly doubt it, they know where there bread is buttered. Acting without the consent of the US would be tremendously stupid.

Iran wouldn't be stupid enough to attack Israel with nuclear weapons anyways. They'd get wiped off the face of the earth, if their own citizens don't massively revolt first.

IMO, Ron Paul's right on this issue.

Especially the one where you are unlikely to catch a purse snatcher because they are black and faster than us.

I'm not too sure. If there is any one country that has the cajones to launch a pre-emptive strike (when their very existence is at stake) I would put my money on Israel, those guys don't mess around.

However I haven't followed much of this scenario in a while, so I speak with no certainty on the matter.

The thing is that a lot of Iranians are actually very normal/westernized if you can call it that, they predominately live in the cities. The nut jobs are in the rural parts of the country. The rural vote is the main driving factor with their president getting re-elected, and the outrage caused by that was seen exclusively in the cities as they want to be more like the rest of the western world (not religious zealots).

Unfortunately these people have no power and the zealots do.

I hope that these countries do not go to war as it will be a shame to see good people die on both sides needlessly.

I was joking?

You are also joking? (not that he said it, but that he's right)

Very good point, unfortunately those progressive citizens are not running the show in Iran.

Not too mention that it really doesn't matter who is President, all the power is with the Supreme Leader.

While on vacation last week in the USA I read an article that the DOD wants more money to build a better bunker buster bomb, as the current ones now lack the punch to penetrate some of the new installations the Iranians have (including ones related to their nuke programs).

LOL, how cute you think voting is what actually keeps Ahmadinejad in office!

You do realize, your solution, requires a nuclear war... right?
