2011/2012 CP English Fantasy Soccer League - (Transfer Window til Friday)
Montana Moe and I would like to start up a fun Fantasy English soccer league within CP. With soccer being low scoring and concentrated on goals, we'll make it really simple.
League: head-to-head league and cup competition
Players: Select 1 keeper, 3 defenders, 4 midfielders and 3 forwards from either the Premier League or the Championship. Players must be kept for a month, at the end of the month upto 4 players can be switched during specified transfer windows. However one player (ie Rooney) can only be on a quarter of the teams in each the league (or division). If more teams want a player there will be either a draw or the lower team in the standings will get him.
Scoring: total goals scored by the 10 outfield players subtracted by goals let in by the keeper.
Example Moe vs GS.
Moe gets 7 goals and lets in 2, GS get 5 goals and lets in 1. Moe wins 5-4.
Goals only which is easy to track. I can make a league table and everything. I'll run it on google spreadsheets.
Cost: FREE
Anyone interested say "I'm IN" and we'll go from there. There is no limit to the number of people who can enter.
Season starts Aug 13.

just an idea, but any way we want to make it a draft?
as long as the number doesn't get too high there are enough players (especially since we are counting the championship) who can put up numbers. And it avoids doubles on the teams

That would be ideal but a draft takes too long over the internet. I want to make it simple. Just send a list of 11 players and if there are alot of doubles, we'll go from there.
IE. if there are 16 teams in a division, a player can only be on 4 teams.

Any substitutes in case a player misses a week, or are we just going to keep it clean with a starting lineup?

I'm letting you all know that I'm far too emotional about pools. For instance, while he may help me win, there isnt a chance in hell I'd take Wayne Rooney for instance.
The very thought of hoping he does well to help me in any way is nauseating.

Just a starting lineup.
We could put in a rule like if you have 3 or more players that don't play compared to your opponent, the match is postponed.

Colour me interested, but I have a very busy fall coming up with a baby on the way on September 1st. I'll keep my eye on this thread and try and submit some picks when the time comes, but just a fair warning that I may become AWOL for periods of time when things get crazy.
So yeah - count me in, mostly.

Congrats! A new Norwich fan!
Once you submit a team at the beginning of the season you actually can go without touching it at all so being AWOL is ok. However I think most players will take advantage of the transfer windows
We've got 7 entrants now.

I'm in 100%
I also will be rooting for my hometown club Norwich - unless they're playing Tottenham of course.
Is there something through Yahoo to make this easier for you?

I'm in for sure.
Question: If I wanted to select the entire Liverpool first team I can do that, right? (Not sure that I would do that but there is no rule against it?

yes you can take the entire Liverpool team there are no limits other than a player cannot be on more than 4 teams.
yahoo has too many weird statistics.. this is goals only which isn't too hard for me to manage

Yup, this is why I can't use yahoo or anything. Want it to be unique to CP and include the Championship.

Sounds like fun, I'm in! Btw, thanks for the invite!
Would it make any sense to start the pool after the transfer window closes? It would suck to lose a star player if he moved to a different league. Unless we simply count the goals he scores abroad.
