Default RIP Big Man

Clarence Clemons passed away today at age 69. One of my favorite bands of all time - a sad night tonight

Not a big fan of Springsteen and the band, but Clarence could blow that sax. Great musician.

socalwingfan, that version of If I Should Fall Behind you embedded was our wedding song. Our guests said that when Clarence's sax kicked in, the hairs on the back of their necks stood up.

I've been a huge Bruce fan since the early 80s, and I've been lucky to see the E Street Band live a dozen times. Clarence's death is hitting me pretty hard right now.

Growing up my two favorite bands were Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street band and Heart.

I remember seeing Springsteen in Vancouver a long time ago and it was the most fun and amazing concert I'd ever seen. I remember they played for two hours, and ended up with "Born to Run" then Springsteen went to the mic and said "We're going to take a short break, don't go anywhere" 10 minutes later they came out and played another two hours. They had the audience in the palm of their hands and their musicianship was beyond unbelievable, it felt like I was in a small bar watching an amazing band and not in a arena. All the time there was Clemons with a big smile on his face playing the Sax for all it was worth.

I remember he had a solo in Dancing in the dark that changed the song from a poppy tune that to me was way to commercial to be Springsteen that dropped the jaws of everyone in attendance.

He showed that the Sax was not just a instrument for the nerdy recluses or the fat chick in the highschool band, and at least for that night it was the instrument of a god.
