Junk Removal
Anyone used another company besides 1800Junk? How much did they charge?
We have about a half dozen large items we'd like to get rid of, and with the lack of trucks available to us, we wanted an idea of how much a junk removal company would cost.

If you go on their website you can get an automated estimate.
They were great when I needed to get rid of my old living room set

1-800-GOT-JUNK is (was) by far and away the most expensive junk removal company I have ever worked with. Hit kijiji and you can probably find a guy with a dump truck that will come by with a buddy and haul all your stuff away for half or less of what 1-800-GOT-JUNK would charge you.

We found it much cheaper to just get a bin delivered and fill it up ourselves. You can get rid of of ton of stuff that way, a much better option IMO.

I had a pile of reno junk and getting a bin delivered & hauled away was ~$350, while the 1800junk guys were ~500+.
Bin lets you shove more in and do it at your pace, and you usually get it for a week.
Just be mindful that you can't really use it for appliances.

The only problem with getting a bin is that you really have to watch it. My brother got one, for some reno'ing he was doing, and he woke up one morning to find around a dozen big bags of someone else's leaves in it.

Go to Home Depot and get a Waste Managent Bagster, they cost $39.99 you take it home and fill it holds something like 1500kg's. You call them to come pick it up and the pick up cost is $160-$180 from what I have been told. Cheaper than pretty much any Drop Bin.

I looked at this when I was doing some renos, but for another $100 you can get a bin that is at least 4x bigger and you dont have to worry about things falling out or pinning down the sides.

That's what I found too. Complete rip off. I was pissed off. My mistake though for not checking their prices out first. Live and learn.

Good to know, if you don't have a full renos worth of stuff to toss out perhaps the Bagster would be a good call. Otherwise go with full sized bin.

We used Outta Site Junk Removal about 9 years ago. I don't remember what competitors quoted us, but Outta Site was substantially cheaper.
They initially quoted $380 for a pile of home reno waste, mostly heavy as hell plaster, and when I said I'd have to call around, they asked me what price I was thinking. I said around $200, and they said "Ok, $200." Took them two loads.

Whatever you do, don't use 310-DUMP.
Horrible rip off artists own the company and encourage employees to do everything possible to screw the customer over. Expensive, too.
