Yep. And a manifestation of that incompetence is a president that believes he can carry out every negotiation and doesn't trust anyone to lay any ground work for him. Ambassadors have a role to play in country-country relations and agreements. A role he doesn't believe he needs because he's an incompetent narcissist.

Okay, granted But still.
I mean, it's not like most of those are real jobs. Even if the ambassador to San Marino or Finland would literally never do any job related duties, I doubt anyone would care. It's not like European countries are making a big deal out of those positions not being filled. It's inconvenient, and I'm sure it's a problem for US diplomacy at times, but those are mostly for the countries that matter.
I think the temperament required would be essentially "don't rape or kill anyone at least in public". If you can shake hands, smile and speak English you're probably golden.

You just know that with all these mass defections Trump is seeing red. He'll get even more sidetracked from his "agenda" to get revenge. I put agenda in quotes because I don't think he ever had an agenda. His handlers did and he believes he does but he doesn't.

This is grossly inaccurate.
They are plum positions to be sure, but they are representatives of the country and the government to other governments.

Well yeah sort of, but the real job is mostly done by actual diplomats, career people who work at the embassies longterm. The mandatory stuff is mostly coctail parties and handing out gifts someone else has chosen for you etc.
Sure if you actually care about effective diplomacy then it absolutely matters who you give those jobs to. But if you don't, like Trump probably doesn't, then I really don't think it much matters.
One US ambassadors to Finland was such a complete airhead it was just comical. Basically on the level of "can talk, shake hands and smile" level of competence. Finns snickered quietly and politely and it all went without any incidents. Even the media keeps that stuff under lid in a small country like this, because we really don't want to embarrass the US.
(I did some limousine-type stuff for a while, so I heard some upper class gossip back then. Plus it's a small country, and I know some people in the political circles which are even smaller.)

this has the potential to be the biggest s##tshow of the year, and that's saying something:
Quote:
A pro-Trump rally dubbed the "Mother of All Rallies" (MOAR) is set to take place in Washington, D.C. the very same day as a march on the mall is being held by the Juggalos, the fanbase of the rap-rock group Insane Clown Posse, in protest of the FBI's classification of Juggalos as a "loosely organized hybrid gang."
Both demonstrations are set to take place on September 16th and both eye the National Mall as the backdrop for their protests.

They played the Marquee Beer Market in Calgary, and small venues all across Canada. Maybe they're still big in the US?

Breitbart just announced Bannon has returned as Executive Chairman and already chaired an editorial meeting.
Will be interesting to see what they post in the coming days.

Anyway all you really need to see is him running because it's as hilarious as you'd think it'd be.
