Re-watched GoldenEye and it might be the perfect action movie. I maybe biased (slightly) but it's my favorite Bond film.and it's a pretty good video game also
The movie felt like they were almost embarrassed to be making a Bond movie, so tried to change everything about Bond a bit. "See! He likes his Martini with three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel." You didn't see that coming did you??? Not when he's playing poker instead of Baccarat.
Casino felt more like they were trying to bring the franchise back down to earth and focus on the character and his relationships, not the toys. After the Bond car with the bird of prey cloaking device, they really had to.
Sure, but no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Gadgets and Q have always been a big part of what makes Bond Bond. You get rid of all that and you just have generic action spy thriller.

Damned straight!
Q and M are some of the best parts.
A new Q is always a lot of fun!

Godzilla Minus One is absolutely fantastic. Right there with Spider-Verse, Talk to Me, and Oppenheimer for my favourite movie of the year. I would say it's the best movie of it's kind (kaiju movies), a genre which has seen its ups and downs. It was a very compelling story, and I actually cared for the human characters. It's very well told, and a much watch for the 70th anniversary. Highly recommended!
They expanded this one by 2500+ theatres in North America this weekend. It was only at Chinook last weekend. Now it's in 5 theatres.
Continuing with my re-watched of the Brosnan Bond films, Tomorrow Never Dies is actually really good, way better than it's rep. Could be my nostalgia talking (this was the first Bond film I saw in theaters) but I found it really fun, with some great action set pieces, this one has aged really well. I also thought it was an interesting angle having the villain be a Steve Jobs type media mogul creating fake news, and of course Michelle Yeoh was a fantastic Bond girl.
Also interesting tidbit, this film was never #1 at the box office as it unfortunately released the exact same day as Titanic in December 1997.
Tomorrow Never Dies is definitely pretty good. Michelle Yeoh rules. And the bad guy actually has a pretty relevant plan to today’s news world.
I don’t think it really has a bad rep, most people like it. But it’s about to go downhill for you fast. The last two Brosnan Bonds have the Doc Brown Meme syndrome where they are so bad that they created an alternate timeline where all of the Brosnan movies were bad.

I tend to watch movies later because I have such a backlog. I just watched Cocaine Bear on a flight and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also watched the new Indiana Jones and thought it was pretty good, all things considered - although I'm not a Phoebe Waller-Bridge fan.
I started and finished "Dune" the other day before it left Netflix. Overall, I thought it was a super fun movie. Just the scale of everything was something to behold. I did find that it seemed to gloss over a great deal of detail - like the viewer was expected to already know a fair bit about the world and all the lore. I assume the book does a great job of filling in the blanks so I'll try and give it a read.
The movie did confirm something for me - this would have been a great one to watch in theatres.

I think The World is Not Enough is actually really good too.
Die Another Day is a disaster though. Still, 3/4 good movies for the Brosnan era (with one all timer) is solid.
I just can't forgive The World Is Not Enough's scriptwriter(s) for naming Denise Richard's character ####ing "Christmas Jones" just so they could make a terrible sexpun to finish the movie.
