Ortio has been a member of the Flames longer than both, so the Flames should take care of their own tenured staff before helping outsiders.

Remember, Hiller and Backstrom have had a long career of chances to prove where they belong. I'd argue Ortio has been given inconsistent opportunities with short patience for him to prove himself.

The classy thing to do is let Ortio prove he can handle a tough schedule.
Huh? They aren't being extended a courtesy over Ortio, Ortio is going to get the bulk of the starts not them. So yes, they are going to let Ortio prove he can handle a tough schedule. They can accomplish both things, letting Ortio handle the bulk of the schedule while still giving Backstrom/Hiller a few starts each.

Sounds like you don't disagree with anything then?

That's to be seen. It's possible - based on how short of leash Ortio has been provided thus far - that Ortio is not liked by the coaching staff, manager or both.

I can't believe Hiller starting is enough to get some people not to watch entirely...

Are people not entertained enough by Gaudreau? I'll watch him play no matter what.

Honestly I'm just glad to see Lance back up on the Backlund line. I bet if you looked at his career points Backlund was probably involved in over half of them.

I never thought I'd see the day when there would be over 250 posts in a GDT against Buffalo. But, Hiller I guess...

So what it boils down to then is that you don't believe the GM who has gone on record stating Ortio is going to get the bulk of the starts? You don't believe the coach when he says he's been impressed with Ortio? You're basically putting your fingers in your ears and ignoring all the information on the subject?

Where you see a short leash other people see the coach pencilling in the backup vs a bottom 5 team. I don't see Ortio being on a short leash right now, don't see any evidence of that. Sounds like he's going to get the bulk of the starts.

I'm looking forward to watching how NaklaPakka follows up with the tough task of defending in front of Hiller.

The only things I'm interested in now are:

A) Watching Johnny spin his magic and stay in Top 10 in scoring
B) Hoping to see more improvement with Monahan and Bennett
C) Praying that we get #1 although we all know who will

So tonight's defensive pairings are:
1. BroDano
2. NaklaPakka
3. Ham & Enger?

You all seem pretty confident that you'll beat us... who's ahead of who in the standings?

You seem to love to group CP into a single collective

Personally, I expect the usual bed-####ting in Buffalo

Confident or starry eyed hopeful? Theres a difference. I for one don't expect much as the Flames since Deadline day have looked disinterested save for a few new faces and a few others. Hiller in net means Eichel should get a few points tonight.

Really?

Literally almost everybody is predicting a loss with Hiller in net, or just hoping to see our young guys play well at least.

I went through the whole thread and saw the following predicting a win:
heep223

So who are you talking about exactly? Or was this just another drive-by troll attempt like your earlier one in this thread?

Where are you getting this idea? Most of this thread is about how much a sieve Hiller is and how the Flames won't win with him.

Frankly no one on this board cares much about the present. It's all about seeing what younger players might fit for the future. And getting as high a pick as possible in the meantime.

No offense, but your team plays in the East. You're not getting ragdolled by San Jose, L.A., and Anaheim every other week.

I guess no team has ever beat one ahead of them in the standings.
