I could see bishop being the goalie of the future for the Flames but I can also see Bernier as well if J-Bo does in deed head to L.A.

Bernier and Bishop are two goalies that I've always thought Calgary should be chasing after. It appears that Bishop won't cost a arm and a leg to aquire so it really would make zero sense for the flames not to make a run at him.

I would like to see how the Kiprusoff & Ramo situations play out before we give up assets for a goaltender.
Basically I wouldn't actively go after someone but if a good young goaltender was available as part of a bigger trade I wouldn't look down at the idea.

I think this a problem for the summer. Also I prefer Lehner out of the 3.

If we could get him without giving up much of anything then yes. But there's no rush, all of this could be addressed in the summer.

100% agree that we should go after this guy. I think the Sens are going to want some pieces for a playoff push and if Anderson comes back in time, they'll be set in net. I think the Flames should target Bishop for a rebuild because he isn't really a proven star and could "grow" with the team. He'd cost a lot less than Bernier and I just have a feeling that if we did get Bernier, he would end up wanting a big contract and would probably leave to a contender as soon as he could, I don't think Bishop would do that. If the Sens need scoring, Cammy for a package of Bishop + would be great coming back. I could also see the Sens having interest in Stajan, Stempniak or one of our defenders.
I think Bishop is exactly the kind of player the Flames should target.

They currently have Kiprusoff, Macdonald, Irving, Taylor and Ortio with NHL contracts. That's just too many goalies.
Three of those are coming off of the books at the end of the season. Only Kiprusoff and Ortio are under contract for the 2013-2014 season.
I don't see them making a play for a goalie until the offseason.

I agree more than likely in the off season. The only way i can see them going for one now, if it was available, is that Kipper has told them that he is going to retire. I don't think Bishop will be availble in the summer.
Some one had an interesting idea of, if we get a first in the trade for JBO, then they could use that 1st to get Bernier. More than likely Bernier will be traded in the summer and not now. If Kipper is gone then the flames would be wise to try and get a young franchise goalie that can play now. I don't think he would bolt in 2 years and more than likely would sign a 5-7 year contract extension.

What is Bishops free agency status RFA or UFA? If he is not UFA I would think Ottawa keeps him as depth for the playoffs rather than trade him for a pick.

Because if Kipper is going to retire then the flames only have Ramo. The other prospects are 4-5 years away from being starters.
Also if Feaster is let go, who knows if the next GM even would want Ramo.

I'm sure he'd take a chance with Ramo first before doing anything "stupid".

I like Bishop, but I really hate targeting soon to be 27 year old goaltenders when that is one of the few positions of strength in our organization. Plus he's a UFA next year if we only get him re-signed for one year.
There's going to be no rush to start winning again for this organization. Roll with Ramo for now and get sub-23 year old skaters and draft picks and start developing areas of weakness (C, RW, D).

Agree with what you say except the 1st going for Bernier. I want us to hold onto every pick we get and stockpile. Now if Jay Bo goes to LA for Bernier, I don't have a problem with that. But the question begs, will Ramo come back to the NHL if we bring in Bishop or Bernier or does he stay in KHL where he will be the starter and get paid accordingly.

Because they all suck or are extremely young (ie. 4-5 years away from the NHL).
