It'll be tough to move Markstrom in the final hours, unless a lot of roadway has been paved in advance, since he has to approve any deal.

But they still seem to be playing Markström, like they're trying to make the playoffs.

Flames do this all the time. We'll miss the playoffs by 4 points, draft a meh player. And do it all over again next year.

I think they play Markstrom because most professional teams since the Black Sox scandal try to win the games they are playing in. Don’t think the Flames playing their best players in some nefarious effort to get a bad draft pick, more likely just an indication that they are doing what all professional sports teams generally try to do, which is win the games they are playing.

I bet something minor. Like that minor trade yesterday. or a depth piece on defense. I thinkt the Markstrom ship has sailed

Ya, well wouldn't you at least give wolf at least half the remaining games? If they were at all serious about moving Markström, you would give your potential future starter more games.

It’s looking more and more obvious that pulling the triggers early was better for the returns.

Just a hunch, but the Oilers are going to get Dumba or Erik Johnson.

If we still had Lindholm we would be getting the Toffoli return. Conroy played his cards well given the ####ty situation he was in.

Looks like a little over 2 mill in cap space available.

Markstrom 50% retained might just be doable if they a move another salary the other way.

2024 1st - Ritchie - and another high pick or B prospect - cap dump

Can't see them winning Cup with Georgiev as their starter.
I am glad you are keeping your expectations in check!

My own thoughts - Feaster was dummied on a couple of those big trades (Iggy, Bouwmeester) and embarrassed by the O'Reilly fiasco where we almost lost a top-10 pick for nothing. So maybe at the time there was more reason for Burke to impose a hard-stance.

Just thought it was a decent anecdote, especially considering Conroy credits Burke for teaching him a lot while he was AGM.

Hard to say that for sure.

Flames were the first dominoes at more than one position, and giving the trades more time could've presented more options and potentially better ones.

The values today aren't great probably just because these are the leftover scraps that are being moved.

It is what it is now. Overall I'm fine with the work the Flames did. We'll have a much better picture when the draft picks are made.

This Megan Chayka girl on TSN is sooooo bad. She should be working with Gene Principe.

Yup, totally agree. He made the Z and Lindholm moves when he did because they were great deals for the Flames and didn't require them to retain to boot! Canucks were unable to do anything more, but could have if the Flames had retained salary on both those deals.

Probably. I think we may get a move for the Wranglers like Brady Lyle for whatever the forward equivalent of Brady Lyle is or something like that.
