Every time. The Olympics are a nice diversion but watching the Flames is like going to work, day in and day out. It's the full season journey to the cup that's satisfying, not a made up 10-day tournament.

I'm really surprised at the results.
As an American, absolutely I would!

The 2002 Olympics was some of the best hockey I've ever seen, so probably not.

I voted "I don't think so" but I am having immediate voters remorse.

82 game season, four round of playoffs >>>>> 6 tournament games over two weeks.
Sudden death >>>>>> Shoot-outs.
How is this not 100% Cup?

I'm surprised guys are even conflicted on the issue. 2002 was indeed fun and great, but you prefer that over a Cup for the Flames?
Yikes.

I feel like this is turning into a "what do you prefer?" or "which would you rather your team win?" discussion.
Moreover it is really unfair to take events that happened years ago and try to pretend that we wipe them all from our memories. Of course everyone is going to pick stanley cup. Why? Because we didn't win one of those but we did win 3 olympic gold medals. Stanley Cup vs Olympics for loyalty and which is the better competition aside the fact is we all have those memories and as such we're going to say "I want the thing I don't have over the thing I already have and can't be taken away".
Basically, I think it's a flawed question.

I think asking this question after winning 3 out of the last 4 golds in Mens Hockey is also skewing the results compared to if you asked this question in 2002. Then again my answer would be the same.
Canada winning Gold is great but they're a contender in a tournament with 3 or 4 other teams that have a shot at winning and it lasts a week and a half. It's not that big of a deal to be honest. It's not like the FIFA World Cup where it's a grueling event that spans multiple years trying to qualify and where there a ton of teams that are capable of playing spoilers and have dramatic story lines playing out that are remembered forever.
If you asked me what I'd want more, a Flames SC win vs. a Poland/Canada world cup win, that is a much harder question for me.
To be honest, the format for International hockey blows chunks.

I'd also throw in every World junior championship, every medal in an Olympic event in Canadian history, and Klimchuk and a 2nd.

This would be a great question to ask Jarome Iginla (maybe after he retires) since he was such a huge part of all three. He was excellent in the Gold Medal game in 2002, of course the great assist in 2010 and obviously the captain of the Flames in 2004.

Yeah.
You know how epic it would be if the World Cup of Hockey was a legitimate tournament that lasted a month? Obviously you would have less teams but if it was a extended group stage followed by 5 or 7 game series each round?
Then you might consider trading a league win for an international win.
Unfortunately, the NHL doesn't care about International hockey at all and their little tournament is a complete gimmick so this is all moot. If the biggest league in the world isn't interested then it's not going to happen.

I would take the Flames winning the Cup in '04 110%.
I would take the Sabres winning the Cup (at any point) over Canada winning any medals in any Olympic event in all of history.

Like most, I would take back every Olympic Gold Medal in Canadian history to see a Flames Cup win in 2004.
While we're at it, can we also take away all of the Montreal Canadiens' Stanley Cups? That would be swell.

I think that Mulletville should have to return 4 banners, one for each #1 overall pick.

This is not even a serious question in my mind. Heck, I'd trade all past and future international success at all levels combined just for one Calgary Flames cup.
