Meh, it's dark when I ride to work almost year round anyways. I'll take the evening light.

Exactly. Especially if it's just your average 9-5'er office crowd, I'll never understand preferring early AM light when commuting to work over later PM light when you're done work and free to enjoy it.

I am so in this camp. I found this year the time change kicked my ass. Just getting used to it today. For what benefit? Leave it like this year round.

Time zone is no good here. We are not far from Eastern zone, and I really wish we were in it.
Earliest sunset (Dec) here is 4:19pm.
Latest sunset (June) is 8:29pm
While the current sunset in Calgary is 7:40pm, here it currently sets before 6pm.

So some folks like light in the morning, some like more light later into the evenings. Maybe the idea to adjust the time to benefit both sides a couple times a year has some merit.
And an hour kicked your ass? Maybe next time change start a few days earlier adjusting your schedule by 10 or 15 minutes a day.

This post was thanked due to contractual obligations.
DST is a 1hr change.
We aren't going to Mars.
It always baffles me that people have such trouble adjusting to a 1 hour time change.
Like what do y'all do when you travel?

I'm on team Daylight time year round and I'm a morning person. Generally work 6-2:30, so when I was still commuting, was used to darkness a good chunk of the year on the way to work. But it's mainly for the summer months I really prefer it. Otherwise, you get the sun rising at 4:30 am if you go standard time year round. Early riser that I am, that's wasted light that early.

Right, but there are a bunch of factors. Like if I travel, I might just be more tired and rundown. Not insurmountable, but not like you don't feel that. And if it's vacation travel, well its vacation. That's generally a pretty nice adjustment for most people.
But the thing with DST is that the change is there and it's annoying for no benefit. There's nothing gained by doing this, so we're adjusting for no reason.

No benefit? So having an extra hour of daylight after work isn't a benefit? Do you live in a cave where sunlight doesn't enter? With the increased sunlight after work I was able to drive home with the sun shining instead of in the dark. I am able to get more rounds of golf and more bike rides in. Those are all great benefits to me.

Golfism and Cycling? I might have to change my vote, we need to eliminate DST!

Although if one were to combine Golfism and Cycling you could probably come up with an 'Extreme-Polo-Like' game.

But again it's an hour, like what happens if you stay up a but late one night.
Are you thrown into an utter shambles the next day.
It's baffling

I’m currently travelling time zones and went through the Sunday time change also. My phone still displays Calgary time. The car displays a now random time. I must be of a higher power because I’m nowhere near ass kicked level. Possibly the opposite in fact.

A bit OT, but how does you phone not update when it gets on a new cell network.

The only time I found it a big pain in the ass is when my kids were small. Their routine gets screwed up for a bit. I never had an issue adjusting as an adult.

Well, to be clear I like this time (DST) and just want to stay here and not revert to standard.

Actually, yes. I'm pretty careful with my sleep schedule and wake up early to exercise...so staying up for that extra hour is crushing for me.

That a good thing.
If you are disciplined it shouldn't be an issue to start changing your sleep in 15 min increments leading up to the change.

In November move the clocks back 30 minutes and keep it like that for eternity. I like extra daylight after noon. If I was an afternoon or night shift worker...losing some AM light might annoy me.
I just wish every sub region in North America would just do the same thing and scrap the changing of the clocks. You have a time zone snd you stay in it all year long.

The only time I found it a pain in the ass was way, way back in the day when I working shifts and I'd go out and totally forget and either show up really early or really late for work.
Now in this day and age? Everything updates automatically. I dont even notice.
