Good on the Oilers, they´re playing well. But we also won a round against the weakest team in the division two years ago and made the second round. Let´s see them do it 2 years in a row.

Well yes, this should go without saying. I do hate them. I hate their crappy orange jerseys, I hate them gloating about their cup wins, and I hate McJesus. I want the ducks to win, but that very well may not happen. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for that event, and I suggest others do the same, so that blood pressure levels do not skyrocket.

I can't watch the Oilers play. Such a boring team. I've tried and tried.

I get that fans of a rival team may not be jumping up and down over their success. But I'm surprised to hear that you feel the Oilers play a boring brand of hockey.

See that's the brilliance of E=NG. It's an all encompassing theory that transcends simply a sports team. There may be certain variables which change, but as a whole, E will always equal NG.

The Oilers, they are gooder now. However, Edmonton as a City, is still no good. So E=NG.

Wait, wait... what if the City got better! Well the Oilers will likely suck again, so... E=NG.

Fine, both the Oilers and City are good, it's E=G now. Nope sorry. Geologically farthest Northern City, and coldest in North America. You lose again Edmonton. E=NG

E=NG, doesn't necessarily mean C=G (Calgary is good). Calgary can still be bad if you wish. But whether C=NG or C=G, E always, and forever will = NG.

This should be established as the manifesto of E=NG. I cannot argue with this in any way, shape, or form.

so I think someone stole your company truck and is trying to tarnish your business name!

I saw your truck driving around yesterday and whoever had it has added not one, but TWO of those ugly, ungodly, horrific orange oilers window flags

hopefully your truck is recovered soon so those flags can be removed

whew just in time...last thread on page 1.

I would also like to remind people that for many years, the unwashed faithful's chant has been "ABC" - anyone but calgary.

That's a fanbase that deserves scorn.

But the Ron MacLean "lovefest" #ronremembers is so over the top. it is as if the entire snet/cbc have been issued a mandate to fawn over the grease, and ron is leading the charge.

at least George strombolopolous made the effort to be unbiased, not the connor blowfest that we see on snet.

It sickens me how much of a cheerleader Maclean has become for the Oilers especially considering it was the Flames and channel 2&7,that gave him his big break in hockey broadcasting when he was hired on as a host for Flames hockey.

So if Edmonton gave you a big break career-wise, you would stop cheering for the Flames and root for the Oilers?

So if someone gives you a break you have to mindlessly lick their boots forever?
He's only supposed to cheerlead for the flames?

Except he 'Mindlessly Bootlicked' for an organization that trotted out the worst team in hockey Professional Sports for a Decade.

He shouldn't be cheerleading for anyone. He should be acting like a professional and impartial host. He didn't cheerlead for the Flames when he hosted them on TV for crying out loud.

I went over to my folks house for dinner, and my sister who has never followed hockey and my brother in law who says he doesn't follow hockey turned on the Oilers game tonight, and when the Oilers scored to tie it 3-3 my sister does this fist pump.

I guess my brother in law noticed my look of disgust and they're cheering for the Oilers because they want a Canadian team to win the cup.

I guess I had an even more visceral reaction because asked me why I'm not cheering for the Oilers with the Flames out and I responded that I would rather insert needles in my eyes then cheer for the team to the North.

They then asked if I was cheering for Ottawa and I told them that I basically want all of the Canadian teams out.

They then asked about the Leafs because they're a young team and so much fun to watch.

So I took my dinner and ate outside because . . . disgusting.

I've been racking my brain to come up with an easy anology to make the casual fan like that understand the rivalry because my in-laws are the same. The casual fan just doesn't get it and I find it just isn't worth the energy to explain.
