I was at the car show back in early March, and some of the digial clusters/guages in vehicles were just awful. One that stood out as particularily cheap looking were the KIAs. Their digital guages were terrible. I'm not sure if it was just a Demo mode and maybe you can choose your cluster, but they looked like a module some PLC programmer created.
I haven't seen one in person, but you have me curious so I'll check 'em out. That's such a downer because the gauge bezels in my wife's Telluride (pre-screen makeover) are super nice. Beautiful detail on them.
Hey anybody know of a reasonably priced mobile windshield replacement company? Need a new one for my truck, but would rather him just come to my shop.
I've used GoGlass in Douglasdale before. Certainly wasn't cheaper than a place like Canalta or Speedy, but wasn't bad either. Mobile service couldn't have been simpler

Booked and the price was super fair. Thanks man!

I don't want a 23" flatscreen on my dash. Modern cars are so disapointing.
Not on topic, but here’s a funny way I can tell you’re not a hardcore 4runner person: you mentioned the screen before the roll down rear window.
Almost everywhere you go, knowing a redesign was coming, the overwhelming sentiment from 4runner fanatics was “do not #### with our roll down rear window.”
I'm really curious to see how the 4Runner differentiates itself from the new Land Cruiser. There looks to be a ton of overlap between the two in terms of size and style and I assume engine (since the LC is already a 4 cylinder, I imagine this will be the same).
As much as I love the roll down rear window of the 4Runners (why doesn't every other company do this?), personally I prefer having the split tailgate like on my LX. It works great as a little bench or work area. The only thing that would make it better is if the top glass could pop up a bit for some airflow.

Yeah split tail gates are the best - coverage from the element and a handy bench. It's a shame that they're all but gone from modern vehicles.
Pepsi's right, I'm not a Toyota guy. But with none of the other manufactures offering quality body on frame SUVs, the new Toyotas have me interested. I'm curious what they do with the belt line of the 4runner. When I was in the market for a mid size truck a while back, one of the reasons I chose the Frontier over the Tacoma was the far better visibility from the larger windows. The new Land Cruiser is heading the right direction with windows you can see out of again but I assume the 4runner will follow the Tacoma's lead and keep the belt line high.
I'm a simple guy, I want some knobs on the dash and big windows I can see out of.

Agreed. I'm a 4Runner fan, but am not a fan of the high beltline of the 5th generation. Combined with the high hood, visibility is definitely not great. Thats one think I love about my 20 year old truck...there's glass for days.
Other than that it's pretty awesome. Great BOF platform, NA 6-cylinder instead of a 4 or turbo, mostly knobs instead of screens, and still built in Japan so it just somehow feels more solid than the Tacoma/Tundra. I have a feeling the 5th-gen is going be revered for a long time.

Know what the best thing is instead of screens? Detailed head up displays where you can add and subtract the info you want. Keeps the clean look inside, but if you want to see a bunch of stuff you still can.

Any recommendations for a mobile mechanic that works on Sundays? My car turns over then immediately the engine stops and it is in my garage....best guess is sparkplugs but could be something else. Don't have the replacement sparkplugs not the tools to take the current ones out.
