I echo the Backlund sentiment though. He has played well this season IMO, and even if Colborne has been fine, Backs shouldn't center the 4th line. Nothing against Stajan, but I won't shed a tear if they trade him at some point this season and Backs can move up again.

LOL - Colborne's pic shows him in a leafs jersey. I guess that means he lines up with the Laughs and "accidently" deflects pucks past Bernier (assume he's starting).
Brilliant strategic move by flames translates to 4-0 win!

Weird stat - Leafs have yet to beat a 'C' team this season. Their four losses have come at the hands of Chicago, Columbus, Carolina, and Colorado.

That's far too many games from now... Backlund is pretty much the best Center the team has right now we need him playing more minutes not less. They should put Colborne back on the 4th line until Stajan is traded (or put Colborne on the wing).

Have we heard anything as to why? Is Backlund being punished or is this just a chemistry and injury fall out?
I thought Backlund was the Flames best player in Dallas so I'm puzzled.
I do understand some meat in the lineup against Toronto though.

Help, save, whatever.

Why all the Leafs hate? What did they ever do to you?....Oh, right, those trades...Anyways. Go Leafs Go!
I'm actually looking forward to this game. From the Flames games I've seen this one shouldn't be boring. 4-3 Toronto final, with the Leafs scoring to in the 3rd period to win.

Nah, the trades really don't have anything to do with it....

Worried they'll put Jackman in the lineup at the expense of someone since the Leafs have two fighters. Seems pretty likely Big Ern will get his first tussle of the season tonight.

I'd guess its just that they think that Monahan and Colborne have out-played him and Stajan is the guy they match-up against top lines.

Obviously the coaching staff feels different, or he's banged up a bit and can't play top line minutes. Alternatively Hartley wants him to work on his two way game.
While Backlund on the fourth line is less than ideal, it does speak to the depth that Feaster and co. have built up and is a good problem to have.

Prediction: Flames win 4-3 in OT, Phaneuf puts the game winning goal into his own net.
Also something like this happens again.

Fun fact: Burke will be in Toronto tonight when the game is being played.
Fun guess: Flames win 3-1. Monahan, Baertschi and Hudler score.

With that defense lineup it's not going to be a low-scoring game. 6-4 Flames in a barn burner, Stajan with the EN goal.

Work on his two-way game?... Backlund is the last guy on the team that needs to work on his two-way game, he has the most advanced two-way game of anyone on the team (and if anyone needs to work on some aspect of their game playing them with the Dancing Bear ain't the way to do it).

It speaks to something else though... poor roster management by the coach. Backlund is better then Colborne, Better then Stajan, and I'd argue right now a better all-around player then Monahan (Yes, Monahan will quickly become better but evidenced by his sheltering he's not quite there yet). To a certain extent I get giving priority to Stajan and Monahan because Monahan needs developmental minutes and requires sheltering and Stajan is a trade asset that you want to showcase not hide in the back of the shop... but there is zero reason for Backlund to play less then Colborne.

Uhhh, have you watched a game this season? Backlund's two-way game is probably the best on the whole team. If anything he needs more minutes so he can score some goals.

That's because the Leafs have the worst 'C' in the league!
