exactly... kid is going to put on another 10-15 pounds of muscle... won't be at his physical peak until 25-27...
I was thrilled when Tkachuk fell down to us, but seeing how good he is already...any other year, this guy could have been the number 1 pick...

Just trying to imagine him in about 3-4 years when he's 15 lbs bigger and a more experienced player that gets the odd offensive zone start and PP time. He's going to be unstoppable.

"Ristolainen is a future franchise d-men and Hamilton is not."
Another one regarding Hamilton:
" ... if they thought he was going to be a franchise, top pairing dman, something I'm not sure he'll ever develop into."
Being publicly called feels nice huh? See, everyone is wrong about players from time to time, no need to be an a-hole about it.
BTW, Hamilton is outscoring Ristolainen this year, and has a positive +/-, something Rasmus doesn't have.

It's pretty sad this rookie is 2nd in team points. I mean the kid is a stud, but it goes to show how bad Monahan, Gaudreau and Bennett have been this year.

He's 3rd on the team in points per game (0.71) behind Gaudreau and Backlund. League-wide, he'd be 3rd or better on 20 other teams, including St. Louis, Nashville, San Jose, Anaheim, Edmonton, Montreal and the NY Islanders. I wouldn't call it sad that he's 2nd on the team in points when he's having as good a year as he's had. Is it sad for Toronto that a rookie is 1st in points? And Gaudreau, with all his struggles, still comfortably leads the team in points per game; he's only farther back due to his injury.

Gaudreau missed 10 games for crying out loud (more PPG) and Mony has 20 goals. They are young too....Bennett is a 2nd year player
There is nothing sad about the Flames young talent
they have 10 guys with 10 plus goals

Tkachuk is awesome and I love him though...I just think other guys are taking way too much heat. They can be better for sure but its kinda weird
Panthers broadcast was talking about JG struggling
5 points in 2 games...wish I struggled like him
Mony just set a Flames record with yet another 20 goal season

Monahan
Backlund
Frolik
Tkachuk
Gaudreau
Bennett
Versteeg
Hamilton
Brouwer
Ferland
All have 10+ goals. In addition, Giordano (9) and Chiasson (8) will likely hit the mark before the end of the season.

Matthew has proverbially come in like a wrecking ball, but he's going to have to learn to pick his spots down the road as he develops a reputation.

Reminds me of the late 80s early 90s Flames, who always had a lot of 20 goal guys.

Sorry I have no time for calgarybood. That poster is terrible and if he's gonna try and call me out then bring it.
As for Ristolainen vs Hamilton I still think the younger Ristolainen has a better chance of becoming a franchise dman. He's younger and more physical. Hamilton may have better offensive instincts but offense isn't the only thing I want from a dman.
I could be wrong on Hamilton but some people may be underrating Ristolainen if they haven't seen him much. Both great young dmen. I consider Rasmus to have about as big an upside as any young dman in the league. Should be interesting to watch his development, BUF has one of the best young cores in the league. So does Calgary for that matter.

Tkachuk is 4th in assists per 60 minutes, averaging 2.17.
1.Backstrom 2.48
2.McDavid 2.24
3.Malkin 2.18
4.Tkachuk 2.17
We got this player at 6, he is doing this at 19. He's in elite company in so many categories. Again and again, thanks Jim.

I also want to mention 20 of his 30 assists have been primary. Remember when HF scouts said he was only getting secondary assists and was a product of Marner and Dvorak? lol

I really want to see him get to about 220 lbs. I think if he doesn't put muscle on the frame he'll wear out early like Bouma seems to be doing.

Bouma was wearing out in game 1. Not even remotely comparable.
Gaining muscle won't help Bouma. It might help Tkachuk but it also may hinder him.
I don't buy he needs to gain muscle. He's still a young kid and will gain it slowly as he ages and becomes a man. No need to force it.

They play different games so I don't think it will be too much of a worry. Matthew is smart but deceptively tough below the dots and along the corners - Bouma throws himself in front of shots and is more of a crash & banger.
