NYR are a very good team just not very likeable. They will sweep the Canes. I really cannot see them playing any better than they have.

That's a bad comparison. The Canes are nothing like the Jets. They're better every year and are real contenders if it wasn't for teams like Panthers, NYR (this year), and Lightnings (previous years). They just have bad luck playing against teams either having a really great series or just teams that are really tough to beat. They're just in a tough division and conference to get out of. They don't take stupid penalties like the Jets do.

Carolina's general system and strategy suffers when they hit a great goalie. Shooting everything doesn't work when the goalie can stop all the straight ahead shots you're taking.

Well, technically they’ve actually gotten worse every year for the last four.

They don’t have bad luck. If you’re a contender, you’re a contender. That means you can hang with the top teams in the playoffs. And they can’t. That’s not bad luck, it’s a lack of talent (whether that’s on the players, the coach, who knows). They’ve won a total of one playoff series against a contender in the last five years and in all but one of those years lost to a team that was out the next round.

I don’t know. For a good team, they kind of suck. They feel like one of those perennial “contenders” that never closes the deal.

Yup. Flames had the same problem under Sutter. Volume shooting is great in the aggregate, but it seems to be more prone to getting goalied.

The Bruins/Panthers series is far from over, but if ends up being a Rangers/Panthers series, wow. The nastiness will be excellent.

The series was too close to be a sweep. I still hope the Canes can mount the comeback. But it's likely ending in game 5. The Rangers top end guys are playing pretty well and they're getting contributions from everywhere in their lineup. Have to give Laviolette credit in that can get teams to really come together the first couple of years.

They were talking during the Canada/Denmark game that there is a goalie slot left open for the Canes goalie.

If that cross-check penalty in overtime against Skjei on Trocheck doesn't get called, it could easily be 2-2. All one goal games and pretty even play.

It is a big reason why the Hurricanes are on the brink of elimination, their power play is one for eighteen! The Rangers can also score shorthanded goals, Trouba just did that from a two on one, 1-0 Rangers midway through the second period.
