Colorado (4-5 match up) would've taken the oilers out in round 1 like they were the Kings.

Faux playoff run is fueled by bad formatting.

That said, they don't choose that and have taken care of business so a little credit due.

Stupid league.

Vancouver better show up tonight
Such a strange team. They’ve wasted couple of games this round. Hopefully they’ve met their quota

Vancouver taking 2 games off in this series is pretty wild. The coach didnt even look that perturbed by it either. It would be hard as a fan to be emotionally hitched to these guys.

You saw in game 5 how they play when they're engaged. Second round in the playoffs and they can't bring it in consecutive games, yet they're still kicking..

Strange team.

This series should be the reason why the playoff format needs to go back. Knowing Gary he will just double down on this terrible format.

I bet he makes it’s a CBA issue.

I agree the format needs to go back but these playoffs aren't a good example of bad teams still being in because of the format.

The 17th, 15th, 14th, 13th, 12th, 11th, 10th place teams are all out.

Edmonton at 9th is worst team still in. For now.

Vancouver was 6th best team in regular season and 2 points behind the 3rd best team.

They aren't the bad team everyone is making them out to be even if they have no showed 2 times this series.

I for one am sick and tired of the same teams meeting in the playoffs again and again. Having the Oilers play the Kings and the Leafs play the Bruins every year gets boring, fast. I know they want to build rivalries, but this is on the extreme end.

I think they need to rerank each round, and should consider crossing over earlier on in the playoffs. This way the best two teams are more likely to meet each other in the Finals. In these playoffs we may have already witnessed the two best teams face off in round two (Stars/Avs)!

I've been told it's about manufacturing rivalries.

The only good thing about this formatting is the Maple Leafs drawing Boston almost every post-season.

But #### man.. this gets boring.

Last year Toronto beat Tampa and Florida beat the Bruins and then Toronto

Sure, Edmonton has drawn and eliminated LA the last 3 years, but after that faced Calgary and LA, then Vegas, and this year Van and maybe Dallas

If the same teams keep making the playoffs you will see some repeats.

I don’t think it’s the big problem you think it is

One could argue the stripes favouring Edmonton is a bigger problem than the other team they face

Same matchups over and over? These teams haven't played each other in 30 years or something.

Bieksa was on Spittin' Chicklets and shared a story about Big Z one time when Bieksa went out to dinner with Z and a few other Flames and during dinner one of "the other tougher guys" almost got into it with Z when one of them told the other guy to STFU and after a bit of a back and forth, the 2 stood up and almost went at it.

Wonder who the other player was? Naz, Lewis, Looch, Stone, Ritchie, Gudbranson?

Canucks 11-0-1 when Rooney refs, so here's to trends continuing

Still think something is fishy with the refs.

Definitely. The amount of bulls*** that McDavid gets away with is beyond ridiculous. There’s a clear bias there when it comes to the officials. If it was any other player, he’d have a dozen penalties by now just in this series alone. Same with Pissy.

Let the regular season and battle for the division create rivalries
I’d love to see the division champs in each conference getting the first 2 playoff seeds then 6 wildcards and play 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7 and so on
In the second round, forget the conferences, throw all 8 remaining teams together and play 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7……..

Without their Vezina-calibre goalie and now without their leading scorer I just don't see the Canucks beating the Oilers.

oh well, oil will probably lose to Dallas in 4 or 5.

They no showed multiple times in the first round too
Edmonton/Vancouver are not top 4 teams
Carolina, Colorado, Vegas, would destroy them

IMO its a poor format made worse by not re-seeding

The league will never go back to anything but a fixed bracket format. They will do anything to have their own NCAA March Madness-style playoff bracket. Gambling has ruined another aspect of the game.
