And if the Flames don't want to keep him. He is under contract as an assistant coach here, if Toronto really wants him make them give up something for him. If the Flames believe he has a good future as a coach why are they just going to let him go off to Toronto?

That can't happen anymore.
You have to think about it though - if Toronto wants him, and Savard wants to go there, most good managers wouldn't stand in the way of someone making a move like that.
Usually in the NHL, teams let assistants leave without issue so long as it's some level of promotion for the individual (and it usually is).
Savard is an assistant here, Toronto may offer him 'associate' - and Conroy likely lets him leave without much protest.

What if the just want him as an assistant? Was it not rumoured we wanted to make Tanguay our associate coach and Detroit said no?

Probably comes down to just that - Flames weren't offering a promotion.
Also entirely possible that Yzerman convinced Tanguay to stay. Forcing professionals at this level to stay where they are when they want to be elsewhere isn't good business - so I imagine it was more complicated than just Detroit saying NO! and Tanguay putting his head down and working.
If Tanguay really wanted to be here over Detroit, I'd expect Yzerman would have let him leave.

Yeah, it's common etiquette to let coaches go on to other opportunities if they wish to do so, especially if it is a promotion. I doubt Yzerman would have held him back if that was the case. It's probably more likely that Yzerman asked him to stay and Tanguay agreed.
I don't think he was to blame for the crap PP for most of the season. I believe it was largely due to the personnel and just new coach growing pains. He will have a lot more to work with in Toronto.

If a coach doesn’t want to be here why would you force him to stay?
It’s like begging a girlfriend that dumped you for another man to stay? Do you really want that?

Seems there's a report out of Russia that Michkov will be playing for the Flyers next year.

Any link?
Just 2 or 3 days ago Briere was saying they haven't even talked to him and wasn't sure if or when he would ever come over.

Which was funny because there were reports (legitimately) two weeks prior to that Briere quote saying they were working to bring him over this year.

Ya but she might change her mind if you beg enough.

This poll popped up on my feed. For those who don't use Twitter or don't want to vote on the poll: 75% voted Calgary says no, 25% voted Edmonton says no

I'd take nurse.
Less years and less money.
Nurse obviously is a terrible contract but he is a #3/4D. I take the cheaper 4D over middle 6 winger.

so would I actually. While badly overpaid he does slot in a as a good 4.

Would rather have an overpaid underperforming #1/#2 winger than a massively overpaid #5 defender.

The only thing Nurse is good at is getting to the front of the net in time to watch the puck go in.

I doubt both of them would waive their NMC. Maybe either of them.

The real question is do the Flyers put a leash on Torts when it comes to Michkov or do they let Torts go no holds barred?
