So why is northbound Stoney still 80 km/h across the new Bow bridge while southbound is 100? Construction has been finished for quite awhile now, are they just keeping that section as a honey pot?

CPS is not allowed to set up speed-traps on Stoney anymore.

My guess is the huge bump where the road and bridge meet and the cars still going 100 catching air from that.

Is it still officially 80, or are people just going 80? Maybe I have missed the 80 sign. I so, take back my words to the strugglers still going 80 through there.

They're certainly able to still do the regular radar/laser speed traps, just not photo radar.

Wait people actually dislike the ring road?

Why, it's ####ing grand.

The only draw back is it doesn't seem to pull vehicles that are passing through, they still seem to drive on Deerfoot.

But I'm struggling to find the negatives.

So the bridge taking forever is already done, I went over it the other day... and they're rehabbing the old one. So clearly they're in the home stretch since the original delay was girders for the new bridge. Yes it's one way traffic still on the new bridge but clearly we're in the home stretch.

If one is a ring road user, they instead might see this as a positive.

A lot of people are using navigation apps of some sort, and for example right now a through trip is showing the same time on Stoney vs Deerfoot, but Stoney is 4 km more so it will default to Deerfoot. Only at peak times are there significant time savings.

Southbound going down the hill towards the Bow Bridge is also 80. I am wondering why Calgary likes to do this kind of stupid sh*t where major freeways often have different speeds at different sections (Crowchild is another example)

Crowchild I can understand. The stretch between 12 Mile Coulee Road and 24th Avenue is wide open, nice overpasses and merges, etc. and 80 works nicely.

Once you get into that middle section with the lights, narrowing, no shoulders, etc. I can see why it drops through there.

Stoney, however, was built from scratch to be 100 (or more, probably) consistently, which makes the speed drops frustrating.

Southbound Stoney as you approach the Bow River is another one of my favourite things - a lane ending on the left on a major highway. Nonsense, IMO.

I don't think the City has jurisdiction of the speed limit on Stoney (?), but yes it seems to be silly having it 80 all the way down the hill.

Stoney and Henday mainline design speed is 110, Alberta Transportation posts at 10 kph under design speed. Not sure what's going on with the speed reduction on the west side, haven't been over there in a while.
