Exactly.
People are spinning so hard here, it is slightly embarrassing. Canucks are taking their pound of flesh as they should, but that was a violent stick to the head incident, and should be punished accordingly.
What the league actually does will be another story, but that's DOPS.

More important than any supplemental discipline is the glaring fact that after that violent cross checking incident on their captain and best player, the Oilers did nothing.

Poor Carson is the least culpable here. He was just relatilating for the McDavid two handed slash, towards McDavid's chest. McDavid's face was there because of Zadorov (and a huge flop by McDavid).

If that had been an intentional crosscheck to the face, McDavid doesn't get up, at least not with teeth.

The thing I keep coming back to is that if that happened in game, and McDavid got right back up just as he did, the worst that would have happened would be a 4 minute double minor for high sticking (assuming he was cut). There would be no talk of a suspension.

It's a suspension, cross check to the face will get you likely 2 games.

McDavid wants to be above the law, and now he knows he isn't. Throw a two handed slash and there will be retaliation.

Even though he shot up right afterwards because he was selling it - because it wasn't that hard or forceful at all.

Pretty sure soucy was retaliating for the hack, but zadorov's hit was so sudden (as was connor dropping) it ended up being a double whammy on the flopping idiot.

League is acting like helicopter parents here. He provoked the Canucks players after all.

Politics aside of who McDavid is, just by that video it looks pretty bad to get a cross check to the face. I didn’t see the video yet of McDavid smacking him to kickstart it but if that was bad then then should be a mitigating factor. But as it stands now, if it wasn’t a run of the mill scrum, Soucy deserves a suspension for it. Sure it was a quick one but you still have to be in control of your stick. Throw the bias out the window, it’s suspendible.

Not really buying that McDavid deserved it. I could see how it riled them up but still. Two game to me.

It wasn't a bad slash by McDavid. It also wasn't a bad cross-check by Soucy, it just became worse because McDavid essentially collapsed into the stick, which otherwise would have been a push in the chest.

In which case, if this is your logic, McDavid needs to be suspended for longer for not being in control of his stick and being an inch from taking the eye out of the guy who's probably about to win the Norris. That is far more dangerous. The worst that could have happened to McDavid from this is a bloody mouth or a chipped tooth.
